Did Russia Use Cluster Bombs Against U.S.-Backed Syrian Fighters

Washington Post: Images suggest that Russia cluster-bombed U.S.-backed Syrian fighters

Russian airstrikes targeted the base of U.S.-backed Syrian fighters near the Jordanian border earlier this week, according to U.S. defense officials, prompting the most aggressive response from the Pentagon since Russia began its air campaign over Syria last year.

New images released Friday by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a group that has monitored the conflict since its start, reportedly shows the aftermath of the strikes on the base at Al-Tanf, a small town near the borders of Iraq, Syria and Jordan. One of the pictures portrays what appears to be the tail section of a RBK-500 cluster munition, a type of bomb repeatedly seen being used by the Russian air force since the start of its mission in Syria. According to the rights group, the strikes killed two people and injured four.

WNU Editor: The Americans were caught off-guard by this Russian bombing run on their Syrian allies, and are responding according (see links below). What's my take .... it is a Russian message aimed directly at the U.S. to remove their Syrian allies away from groups like Al-Nusra ... or suffer the consequences. In short .... my gut is now telling me that the Russians are going all out to win this war within a year or two .... with or without the U.S..

This is always crap.

It matter more whether you shoot a person or hack with a sword.

The manner of death seems to matter more to the hand wringers than there was a conflict in the 1st place.

Sing some Katie Perry for us Anzino,

The concern about cluster bombs has never been about their effect on enemy troops,

It has always been about their use in areas with civillians, (they are an indescriminant weapon),

And their persistence as UXO.

Watch the Russians fight, study Russian strategy, study Russian tactics, study Russian military equipment, and learn. If you want to be the best or get better, study the best. The Russian military is currently the best.

It's unlikely America could ever be the best as there are cultural and temperament challenges that America would need to overcome to be militarily on the same level as Russia. There's no reasonable way for such changes in culture and temperament to happen quickly. With that said getting better is possible. A great place to start is by watching the best, studying the best, and learning!!

I'm not sure the relevance of Katie Perry to a post on the use of cluster bombs.

Anzino doesn't know who Robert Perry is, ( Consortium News),

All he knows is Katie Perry.

It was a "cheap shot" back at him, earlier. god I miss playing " dirty hockey".
