I suspect all of them were in on the plot. Erdogan would not be using this as an opportunity to settle any and all old scores.

The Iranification of Turkey begins. Just no mullahs.

Yeah, 15,200 professors were on the plot.

Hitler and the Nazi party did the same thing with major facets of education, judiciary, political and military when coming into power. Erdogan just has a valid legal reason for this. I don't believe that he orchestrated this but I DO believe that they knew this was going to happen and they planned their response accordingly. The speed at which this coup was shut down and the confusion amongst the grunts involved with many believing it to be a response to an active terrorist plot. This makes Erdogan seem in control and his power absolute and with the speed of their response makes him seem completely organized and efficient. Now we just have to wait and see where he wants to go from here.

I would have to say an impressive list,Erdogan looks like he is taking out the people that could lead political resistance, but by not arresting and disappearing them he could be making a mistake, they're still out there. I would be interested to know are these people moderate, pro western types.
