Russia Warns It Will Terminate The Agreement With The U.S. On How Both Countries Share The Skies Over Syria

Washington Times: Russia threatens to kill pact to share skies over Syria

Say no time to comply amid increased attacks

Russian military leaders are threatening to call off the longstanding agreement with the U.S. to share the skies above Syria, potentially putting American aircraft in the region at risk.

On Thursday, Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook pressed Moscow to adhere to the deal, saying it was vital in order to “avoid misunderstanding and miscalculation” between the two countries.

The dispute adds yet another complication to the effort to end the Syrian civil war, where Russia and the U.S. are backing different sides, and take the fight to Islamic State and other jihadi groups that have set up a base in Syria amid the six years of fighting.

WNU Editor: Killing the agreement with the U.S. to share the skies above Syria is a dangerous development and one that Russia should not take. Unfortunately .... I suspect that this is just one more pressure tactic that Russia is using to get the Americans back to the diplomatic table ....

You can't invade Iran if you don't take out Syria. I don't think this will have desired effect that Russia will be looking for in fact the opposite in my opinion.
