NBC: U.S. Hits Iran With New Sanctions for Ballistic Missile Test, Terrorism Sponsorship

The Trump administration hit Iran with new sanctions Friday following the test-firing of a medium-range ballistic missile, an action the White House says is in defiance of a U.N. resolution.

"Iran's continued support for terrorism and development of its ballistic missile program poses a threat to the region, to our partners worldwide, and to the United States," said John E. Smith, acting director of the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Iranians now worried about being bombed in their own homes? They have Russia and China as allies. Such a thing would be impossible as long as they have that support. The Americans could not get anywhere close enough to do such a thing. Americans have been worried for decades about being bombed by Iran "death to America."

While the media has obsessed about an American attack on Iran that would not and could not come, the real threat which is an Iranian attack on America very likely by Iranian agents already in the country killing 10s of millions of Americans and very likely much more is what the world and the media should be focused on. Specifically how do we prevent this attack from Iran "death to America" on America.

It does seem certain that imposing additional sanctions are not going to help. In fact, they will likely only inflame the situation, drive the people further into the arms of the leadership strengthening them, and with the idea of America as a foreign devil reinforced the forces supporting "death to America" will be reinforced. Additionally such sanctions only serve to further undermine the role of the US dollar as world reserve currency.

As I could have very easily told BHO and his team that sanctions against Russia would end badly while strengthening Putin, I would advise DJT and his team the same thing with regards to Iran. I was proven right with regards to Russia. I don't want to be proven right with regards to Iran. The best way and perhaps the only way to not prove me right would be for the US government not to engage in such stupid policies.

Now should Iran one day lose the support of Russia and China they might not be nearly so tough. What trade offs might we be able to make with Russia and China to get them to assist us here? I have some ideas and, while they may not work, they do offer some hope of success unlike sanctions that are almost guaranteed to make things worse.
