Henry Kissinger Keeps His Counsel When Asked About President Trump

WNU Editor: When Henry Kissinger does not want to talk about a world leader, it is usually because he is dealing/advising that person right now. I expected more from this article, but it is the answers that he does not give that tells me more on what he sees is happening in the world today, than on the answers that he gives. The article/interview with Henry Kissinger is here .... Henry Kissinger: ‘We are in a very, very grave period’ (Edward Luce, Financial Times). And yes .... we are living ina  unique but potentially very dangerous time.

Even I'm not a supporter of Putin, I don't fear about Russia....as long as we have a strong President.
What make me worry is China. Xi Ping went too far in his official goal for not doing it: that's face loosing which is absolutely impossible in the China culture. Even the game is risky he will do it because that's better to die than to be ashamed. And that's extremely dangerous.

Jac,

I'm pretty much in agreement with you. Essentially Xi has based his country's future on an economic policy that isn't sustainable. Now he's doubled down on it!!

Normal people when they find themselves the beneficiaries of that which can't be sustained "put back", and "pocket the gains" when the inevitable "rebalancing" does occurr. Abnormal people stake their futures and those of those they represent on such things. Xi has done the abnornal thing.

Xi and China cannot win a trade war with the US. The efitor has commented on this extensively. China can and likely would win a conventional war with the US, as I point out elsewhere. Since face saving seems important to Xi and China, wae may be inevitable.

What should be the path forward for us and our government? 1.) We probably have some time, perhaps between 6 months to 2 years. I would suggest getting our military and citizens ready for such a conflict to enhance our chances. 2.)Have plans in place to try and win the war quickly before China's superior industrial might has a chance and make the costs for China so high that their messaging (propaganda) is ineffective. This may well nean uding nuclear weapons early and often.

Lafiv IV,

I've had pretty much the same thoughts. He's also "establishment." While I could be wrong, I don't POTUS seeks out such people for advice. After all these establishment types created the mess that team Trump are methodically cleaning up. It makes no sense to ask these people pretty much anything.

Then again Mr. Kissinger does seem to be the kind of person who would grasp the importance of having constructive relations with important world leaders like Vladimir Putin. Picking fights with them over flimsy pretexts and naking blatant political moves to undermine such diplomatic attempts is NOT a good way forward. I think Mr. Kissinger understands such things.

Is he advising Trump? Probably not. My "take" is the silence indicates he agrees with Trump but at his age he doesn't want to "rock the boat." As such, he understands with such a goal in mind silence is the best approach.

Fred's Law: Guilty until proven innocent. There you have it.

All this time, all your hatred and it boils down to this: He's guilty to all this and more before you see evidence. Whatever cnn claims. Whatever people on MSNBC shout.

He's guilty of it all and more. U just know it. Go form a lynch mob already!! why wait for law and order and all these things out country is based on? Let the media (!) be the judge - let's just impeach him and whatever else Fred wants
