Emmanuel Macron has today called for 'a real European army' to protect the continent from growing military threats - including the United States.
The French President said China and Russia were becoming increasingly powerful, and that the U.S. under President Donald Trump could not be relied upon for defence.
The 40-year-old said some of the actions taken by the U.S. President would have consequences for security in Europe.

The ongoing hysterics from Europe get worse and worse the longer the Trump Presidency lasts. Whats next for the French and Germans, leaving NATO and joining the Shanghai group?
Macron thinks that the recent massive return of US arms and munitions to Europe is to conquer the EU? He thinks the ABM installations the US has built in Romania and is building in Poland to to strike down la Force de Frappe? He thinks the recent huge American participation in the Norwegian exercises is to rehearse an EU invasion by the US?
These statements give sustenance to US voices who are thru with NATO. Macron is doing good work to cause more division in the EU. The 7 Seas group will not accept Macron's blathering nor will the Dutch, Norway, Greece, Italy.

With New Caledonia rejecting a vote for independence from the French, the French government must show its ability to protect its realm of influence. I believe they themselves are incapable of this, really the only empire of old that seems to be the united in mutual defense is the Commonwealth. Spain was a German supporter, yet stayed out of armed conflict, both in South America and Europe. They say Churchill mobilized every English speaking country to the defense of Britain and the defeat of Germany. Can the same be said for French, Dutch or Spanish speakers, i think not. Personally France should be less worried about creating an European army and more worried about Africa. Like it or not, good or bad the French have invested alot into Africa and if they are truly invested in their own survival they should be looking to the African continent for support and not Europeans.
The only reason French is spoken in West Africa is to have a lingua Franca and to obtain the good life via academics in France
