US - Europe Rift Wide Open At Munich Security Talks

France 24: Trump-era US Europe rift wide open at Munich security talks

The United States and European powers voiced sharply differing views on issues from Mideast security to trade Saturday, laying bare a deep trans-Atlantic rift in the era of President Donald Trump.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and other European leaders at a three-day international security conference voiced dismay at a range of Trump decisions deemed hostile to America's NATO allies.

In one awkward moment Friday, US Vice President Mike Pence said he was bringing greetings from Trump, only to be met with stony silence from a room full of national leaders, ministers and generals.

Merkel said a looming new shot expected in a trade war -- Washington readying to declare European car imports a "national security threat" -- was "frightening", speaking at the Munich Security Conference.

The fissures are not new. Remember the old Europe intervene in the USA 2016 election in favor of Hillary. Those Euros reviled Trump before he took office. It’s the measure of the man he put that all aside as he worked to rebuild NATO from Obama’s benign neglect.

What still exists is this fact. European politics has drastically diverged from American politics. Half of Americans are opposed to socialism, open borders, multilateralism, predatory trade practices, the state knows best. Most old Europeans despise Americans.

Fruitcake Fraulein, who is going to lose power in the next 2 years over one failed policy after another disagrees with Trump. We should listen to fruit loops why?

Then there is France where the empty suit cannot run a country.

Or Theresa May, who would been kicked to the curb 1/2 a year ago if it wasn't to risky (i.e Corbyn).

There is more to more to Europe than those 3 countries. There is more to Europe then those sterile idiots.

Europe hate America...but, at same time need it. Psychiatry is strongly in demand in this area.

Europe is a leftist battleground. Most media in Europe is strongly influenced by the left and in several easter European countries you strong influence of Russian propaganda. .drip drip year after year and the Americans have not figured out that they are losing on the leftists front and social media propaganda front. Russians are good at prompting a left/right divide and a Europe/US divide. Unless Americans learn that this battle takes place and has been taken place for decades now, they will lose much of Europe to the east at which point the alliance and US weight crumbles. It's time to wake up and fight fire with fire
