China Is Snubbing Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau



SCMP/AFP: China snubbed Justin Trudeau’s request for talks to free detained Canadians

* Canadian PM asked for call with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in January to ‘personally advocate’ for immediate release of Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor
* Beijing has placed the blame entirely on Canada, asking that Huawei chief financial officer Meng Wanzhou be released ‘immediately’

Canada should take the “entire responsibility” for a spiralling diplomatic row, China said Thursday, after Ottawa said Beijing had spurned a request for dialogue.

Relations between the two countries have deteriorated since December when police in Vancouver detained Huawei chief financial officer Meng Wanzhou on a US arrest warrant.

Canada should certainly stop facilitating the trans-shipment of tarrifed product on behalf of Chinese manufacturers even if they happen to be American manufactures manufacturing in China.
