The official questioned whether the U.S. Army 'brought the epidemic to Wuhan'
A Chinese official questioned whether the U.S. Army "brought the epidemic to Wuhan" and demanded "an explanation" on Thursday.
A spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry, Lijian Zhao, made the post on his official Twitter account and included video of U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Robert Redfield testifying before Congress.
"CDC was caught on the spot," Lijian wrote. "When did patient zero begin in US? How many people are infected? What are the names of the hospitals? It might be US army who brought the epidemic to Wuhan. Be transparent! Make public your data! US owe us an explanation!"

Arrogant rapacious bastards. This might work in mainland China, but as far as the West is concerned Wuhan Virus is the sole doing of China and will always be the sole doing of China.
Infuriatingly/predictably US pols and media fall in line to defend their Chinese overlords.
Accountability will happen. Not right now. Gradually. They've destroyed all confidence anyone once had in them. All nations are seriously reconsidering the extent they are dependent upon China for critical goods. They will now be correctly considered the supply chain's weak link.

No one believes the Chinese propaganda. We all saw what they did to the Chinese doctor who tried to warn the world. And he died of it too in China, before any other country got it. This is beyond upsetting and the world will push back on it. Not only did it originate in China but they made it worse by not telling us for months(!!)

If the Chinese are blaming the USA for deploying the kung flu in China then we can deduce the following. Its a bio weapon that has escaped a bio weapon research facility in or near Wuhan after hitching a ride on a virologist or lab technician. I predict a a final toll of between 10K and 20K, closer to 10K. How many lives are we going to save by our hysterical overreaction? ZERO!! How many lives will be lost by our hysterical overreaction? Incalculable, already health care facilities are limiting access between the elderly and their loved ones. As our editor says, "here is an easy prediction..." here's one, this loss of support from loved ones is guaranteed to kill!!
As for economic losses, with a sane reaction this could have been mitigated at perhaps 500 billion. Due to the overreaction I'd estimate 10s of trillions in economic losses to be conservative. Think hundreds of trillions with the "third world" taking a huge hit!!
As for blowback, it may time. At some point, the fear mongers who pushed this overreaction will pay a steep price for this and I would NOT want to be nearby when justice is served to them!!
Cancers are named by where they start like stomach cancer or lung cancer. From what I gather that is changing. In the last 2 or 3 years scientists are identifying the key 10 or so genes that are knocked out or altered. This should lead to faster diagnosis and better treatments.
Similarly, we name flu's after the place of supposed origin like the London Flu (1972) or Hong Kong Flu (1968). Nothing is meant by it than is meant by naming a cancer that starts say in the lung, lung cancer.
I expect more diseases to originate in the tropics or subtropics where there is more life and more biodiversity. Not because the people living there are somehow evil. I would not expect flu to come out of a research station in Antarctica or Svalbard every other year. I just don't although it would make for an entertaining if corny X-files episode or story arc.
