Chinese State Media Say Australia Will Be Bombed If They Support US Military Action Defending Taiwan

Two Su-35 fighter jets and a H-6K bomber fly in formation on May 11, 2018. The People's Liberation Army (PLA) air force conducted patrol training over China's island of Taiwan on Friday. Su-35 fighter jets flew over the Bashi Channel in formation with the H-6Ks for the first time, which marks a new breakthrough in island patrol patterns, said Shen Jinke, spokesperson for the PLA air force.Photo:China Military

* Chilling warning comes amid increasing tensions between Canberra and Beijing

A Chinese propaganda newspaper has encouraged Beijing to bomb Australia if Canberra supports US military action in protecting Taiwan.

Hu Xijin, the editor-in-chief of The Global Times, which is seen as Beijing's mouthpiece on foreign policy to the world, said China should retaliate with 'long-range strikes' if Australia gets involved in a potential military conflict over Taiwan.

'I suggest China make a plan to impose retaliatory punishment against Australia once it militarily interferes in the cross-Straits situation,' he wrote in an opinion piece.

China makes its usual threat. So? Australia is an allied of US and China knows America will reply for that. Why China fear USA directly and not through the Australia alliance? It doesn't make sense.

This statement comes as no surprise. I'd also expect the United States go he bombed as well and very likely blockaded. I also view it as problematic for the US to offer Australian much assistance in such a situation.

Surely Aussie leadership has thought through this when planning. Of course they're going to get bombed unless a plan to stop the bombers and/or the bombs.

B Poster = Lord Haw Haw = Tokyo Rose

There are 3 to 4 trolls on anyone site at least. Only question is to figure out who is paid and who is not. Of the paid actors are they started sponsored or by a domestic group. Lord Haw Haw is still triangulating. Occasionally, Haw Haw goes in for the kill, but usually tries to slowly insinuate.

Gere Poster is at his most obvious. You going to blockade the West Coast with your rubber ducky?

Which will lead to an economic blockade of China.
China will starve.
Then it'll start to get fun.

Anon 5:55,

I'm not going to blockade the US. In fact, I have friends and family who live on the west coast. Frankly a blockade would deeply hurt all of us. By your insults of me it suggests you aren't taking any of this seriously enough.

While the "rubber ducky" term is cute such remarks are indicative of a non serious mind at work. While such remarks certainly have there place, very respectfully when discussing matters of this importance it does not belong.

Now, as I stated, if Australia or any one is going to support Taiwan, the fact that China is going to try and bomb and blockade them is a given. We shouldn't need Chinese state media to tell us this.

They will not be bringing so called rubber duckys to the fight. I would suspect Chinese and Russian subs to have a big role in such an endeavor. Frankly I think you underestimate our adversaries and this is dangerous.

Crusader,

Thanks for the reply. I had thought of what you mention. "Turning the tables" on one's adversary essentially doing to them what they planned to do to you would be awesome!!

With that said I simply don't see the US and it's "allies" having the coordination necessary to actually pull off a blockade of China even assuming we and our "allies" actually have the ability which is a questionable assumption at best. I would frankly expect this assortment of users, abusers, and grifters to tire of us very quickly. We'd probably be completely alone.

This is the assessment right now. It could be in error and things are fluid.

Name the destroyers, subs or baby aircraft carriers of the Chinese Navy that will blockade America's West coast. There are not any. So what you are left with is bathtub toys, which have made an appearance in the thousands on the western shore, if you recall.

Sure China has aircraft carriers, subs and destroyers, but how many will make it through the US Navy to park off the west coast?

The Chinese shore batteries by themselves cannot protect the South China Sea for China. Of course the Chinese would deploy their navy and in a match up off hand I say the US loses 30% of committed forces and he Chinese get wiped. In which case the Americas are afraid to get near the Chinese coast and the Chinese are afraid to leave port.

Americans learn how to husband their iPhones and Chinese learn to eat less pork and get thin. What really will be interesting is cyber attacks on energy infrastructure.

Anon (6:50),

Thanks for the reply. I like your optimism. Unfortunately I don't share it. I hope and pray you're right.

Aircraft carriers are essentially obsolete against even a third rate Navy unless you have protection for them beyond what we currently have. Perhaps the Chinese have discovered such protection for their aircraft carriers. Nevertheless I wouldn't expect them to be deployed. The primary weapons will probably be Russian and Chinese subs and I agree cyber attacks against the energy infrastructure will probably factor on. Frankly the leadership class underestimates all of this. Of course many of them appear to be in league with China anyway.

Once the going starts to get tough, I expect our "allies" to bail on us very quickly. Bottom line: anyone who supports Taiwan in a war against China should expect to be bombed and should be working on how to stop China from doing this.

I don't even think the Taiwanese fully grasp the situation. They haven't even developed a nuclear deterrent yet!! I knew they needed to do this in 1992!! Given how they've behaved it wouldn't surprise me if they try "wag the dog" on us gullible Americans.

At least our leadership class is gullible. Once you've had loved ones suffer immeasurably as a result of their negligent stupidity your perspective will change.

Due to the vast numbers of fruitless military operations around the world that not only don't advance our interests but actually undermine them the American people are now virulently anti-war and will punish ANY leader who expands our military operations. I don't think the leadership class fully understands this. Of course they may just think they can steal more elections without consequence.

B(e) (Im)poster,

If some buddies and I were to go down the road few clocks we could stop some semis. The trailer loads of food bound for a port would never make it to China. Hard to win a war on an empty stomach.

But remember you have the Chinese navy blockading those ports anyway so nothing would go west to east.

You should get out more and visit some factories. Learn something.

Atlast 6:50 said it right.Usually fears getting in heads too far at first without real basis, usually I'd seen it here.

Anon (7:51)

Why the insults? Apparently you didn't think through the fact that the Chinese and their allies are going to bomb the highway system meaning travel will be impossible for the semis. Furthermore I'd expect the major trucking companies and major retailers to be eliminated. Hopefully I'm wrong. Maybe our government has a plan to confront this. Unfortunately given the track record it's hard to be optimistic.

Perhaps it is you who need to get out more. Perhaps you'll learn something. You could "visit" a factory. Unless you have something to offer them or threaten them with it's unlikely they'll share much with you. Thank you for sharing.

Anon 7:51 accuses me of being an imposter and yet I've made it very easy for him/her to contact me to test their theories regarding me but they refuse to do so. I find it tiresome to deal with such non serious people.

You find it tiresome but here you are. One of the more patient trolls you are B but nonetheless spineless. Nice to see you in the death spiral. Lol blind accountant haha still gives me chuckles after all these years. Younger trolls must love you.
