Ethiopian Civil War Shows No Signs Of Ending

Yahoo News: Ethiopia crisis raises new fears as civil war shows no signs of abating

More than a year into a bloody civil war in Ethiopia that has already claimed tens of thousands of lives and displaced upwards of 2 million people, experts fear the worst is yet ahead.

With the political power of Africa’s second-largest nation of 115 million people at stake, Ethiopia’s federal government remains at odds with fighters from the northern Tigray region, known as the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), who have been steadily advancing south toward the capital, Addis Ababa, since early October.

Is this civil war turning into another Rwanda? IE: something we've all just ignored until we woke up one day and discovered that 400,000 people have been hacked to death in Africa. Again.

Sec State Blinken has not ignored it. He has made at least two, count them two, sharply worded diplomatic pleas.

Anthony has done his part . Now it is time to be rewarded . Off to the dinner circuit for him.

snippy: what do you suggest we do and will you sign up?

My statements are truthful. Show us where Blinken has done more than issue sharply worded statements, protests or letter.

Are there any sanctions against Ethiopia for waging war or committing war crimes? there are more reports and hand wringing complaints by western types of of war crimes, but very little prosecutions. Prosecutions to date have been a handful of Serbs and Africans. So few war crimes prosecutions in fact that it makes Portland look like a post card for law and order.

Any there any targeted sanctions against individuals in the Ethiopian government or rebel groups for doing the wrong thing?

Frankly, more action was taken against Zaire in the 1980s than against Ethiopia. It consisted of quality deficiency reports of suspected bad parts. It was to pull those parts form circulation to check them out or dispose of them. Those message always had EXEMPT Zaire. I guess of those parts caused loss of equipment or worse loss of life, it was okay. Because it was Zaire or it was Africans dying.

Name something Blinken has done about Ethiopia except sharply worded statements? Do those count as mean tweets?

RussinSocal has it right. western intelligencia will bemoan the loss of life after the fact and whine "What could we have done?"

Form a LTC facility in 2025, Biden will be handed a cue cards to simper about "We should have done something in Ethiopia." just like Clinton whimpered about not doing anything in Rwanda.

Fun Fact: 10:41 is a card carrying member of the intelligentsia. They are not bright. Far from it. To be a member of the intelligentsia you need certain professions and the effusive desire to utter certain shibboleths over and over. High intelligence has nothing to do with it.

I go along with trump: we are not the police of the world

fun fact: why is it that those with very little education like to belittle those with a lot?

When you flippantly write "We are the world police", you are showing your lack of verisimilitude.

Diplomatic or economic sanction s are not the same as boots ion the ground. Trump had sanctions on Iran, but no boots on the ground. I do not expect you to see the difference or be honest.

You assume I have very little education or that the other person has a lot. You are also assuming that I define education or intelligence the same way.

no. you are a nasty person who gets that from his parents

You're showing all that "education" in your comment.

go forth and sin no more

there is a civil war ongoing there. Is the US to go in and do what?
support the present govt? support the other side? sanctions against whom? why?
in sum: you over simplify by saying we need to apply actions. Sanctions would help the side fighting the govt. Is that what you want? why not tell us which side you think we should support and why.

The answer you pretend to seek was already alluded to. Sanctions against individuals can be emplaced. Sanctions or embargo against the government of Ethiopia, which is the aggressor, can be emplaced. Individuals can be referred to The Hague. None of those items require boots on the ground. Blinken has done none of this since he is a putz.

No go forth and sin no more you putz.

PS. If sanction against the government would help the rebels that is a bad thing when the government started it?

One thing we know about you is you will not make contribution to either Yiddish or English. Sad
