Kremlin Denies Reports It Has Plans To Invade Ukraine

Newsweek: Russia Promises It Won't Invade Ukraine, Despite Troop Buildup at Border

Russia has never planned on invading Ukraine, and won't do so "unless provoked," Russia's deputy U.N. ambassador said on Thursday.

His words followed sharp criticism from the United States over reports of a troop buildup at Ukraine's border.

"Never planned, never did," said Dmitry Polyanskiy when pressed by a reporter at U.N. headquarters on whether Russia is planning on a military invasion of Ukraine, amid reports of a surge in troop presence along the countries borders.

"Never going to do it unless we're provoked by Ukraine, or by somebody else," or if Russia's national sovereignty is threatened, added Polyanskiy, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations.

WNU Editor: An invasion of Ukraine will require hundreds of thousands of soldiers, and the expenditure of hundreds of billions during and after the conflict to stabilize and rebuild the country.

Such an invasion will also result in across the board sanctions across Russia, and a great deal of opposition within Russia itself to such a military course of action.

The Kremlin is many things, but they are not that stupid!

Don't bet on it. Russians don't care any more about the west.

russia is testing the USA. Russia, China, the Taliban all saw the US as weakening and wanted to push its opportunities. If the rag tag Taliban can cheaply kick the USA out of Afghanistan, why can't Russia or China free up territory they want on the cheap?

The problem is that people can miscalculate. Hitler invaded Poland despite western guarantees because he did not actually believe the West would honor its promises after the Munich Crisis. Japan entered a war with China in 1937 because it did not think its actions at the Marco Polo Bridge or Shanghai would cuase a greater war because China surely knew it would lose. Khruschev sent nuclear weapons into Cuba because he did not think Kennedy would do anything. LBJ thought intervening in Vietnam would signal to the North Vietnamese they could not win and they would make a deal that would keep South Vietnam independent.

Putin's original decision to invade the Donbas (more accurately attempt to conquer "Novorossiya") was no doubt caused by his belief it would just fall into his hands like Crimea did. The extent of Ukrainian resistance was far greater than he anticipated.

In each case, these people who miscalculated had good reason to think they could get away with it, but it below up in their faces.

The big problem right now is that the US pulled out of Afghanistan in a way that incredibly damaged its prestige, and that Biden is obviously senile and the US media is doing their best to pretend he isn't. Who knows what kind of behavior that is encouraging.

"The Kremlin is many things, but they are not that stupid! "

Of Two minds.

1) Take what the 1st commenter wrote. What if Russia did roll in and at the very least take the Russian speaking portion and a land bridge to Crimea. What is the West going to do about it outside of nuclear war or airlifting troops to Kiev to stop further expansion?

Suppose NATO plans and intends to execute a counter offensive in January or February. The Russian turn off the gas. A lot of infrastructure can be destroyed during a cold snap simply by pipes freezing? We are talking about no heat, no running water and no water for sewage. Will most people born after 1950 or 1960 be able to cope?

I will take a while to ramp up US natural gas production to help Europe. Best WAG by me is by winter 2022/2023. It will be a butter versus guns argument.

If the Kremlin goes in China will definitely take Taiwan. At which time I go into hiding. Willing to die, but not for a cabal's piss poor planning of 6 decades. Just go camping.

If the US is tied up in Europe and the Western Pacific. Iran will wipe out any US bases in the Persian Gulf or threaten Bahrain, Qatar, UAE and Oman to disinvite them especially, if there are reverses. The nearest supply point or air base will be Diego Garcia or India. IF the Americans look like they are making a push back into the Gulf. The Iranians will hit it with ballistic missiles and at the very least crater the runways.

The US cannot fight two major 2 wars at the same time. Democrats made sure of it. France and Britain can help. Germany is fucking worthless. Australia is ramping up. It could take 3 to 5 years. Canada is fucking worthless in a fight. They should be equal to Australia and they are not. Trudeau is a pencil neck geek of no positive accomplishment.

2) If the Kremlin has no intention of invading, then why is the Biden Regime harping on this? It would be to fool 20% to 40% of the lectorate stupid enough to believe this lie forever or for a short while.

Is part of the electorate that stupid? It is and the Democrats count on it. A radio show host has a college educated brother, who believes Rittenhouse murdered two black men at Kenosha, Wisconsin. If they will believe that, they will believe any lie the MSM tells them.
