Pentagon Officials ‘Remain Baffled By Chinese Hypersonic Missile Technology’ (Update)

Vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General John Hyten (pictured) said that China's hypersonic space weapons could be used to launch a surprise attack on the US and admitted that Beijing has more advanced technology

Daily Mail: Pentagon officials ‘remain baffled by Chinese hypersonic missile technology’ after Beijing tested weapon that could deploy a nuke while travelling at five times the speed of sound

* China's hypersonic weapon test fired a missile at five times the speed of sound

* Pentagon experts still baffled at how China managed to defy physics constraints

* Test suggests China's hypersonic weapons more advanced than US and Russia

* Purpose of the missile remains unknown as it was fired with no obvious target

A hypersonic weapon test carried out by China in July featured a missile fired at five times the speed of sound - a technological feat which no other country has demonstrated, according to US intelligence.

The hypersonic glide vehicle - a spacecraft with the ability to carry a nuclear warhead - fired a missile mid-flight over the South China Sea, catching Pentagon scientists unawares.

Experts at Darpa - the Pentagon's advanced research agency - are apparently still baffled at how China was able to defy the constraints of physics to fire a weapon from the vehicle travelling at hypersonic speed, the Financial Times reports.

It is most as if cadets do not earn science and engineering degrees.

China outnumber USA STEM Grads 8 to 1 and by 2030 15 to 1

More isn't always better, but all of those 'extra' graduates cannot be dumb as a box of rocks. Also, so much for the "All the Chinese can do is steal and copy". The Russian copied the B29 during WW2 and the Tupolev Tu-4 was the result For all the copying the Russians produced some innovative, cutting edge, and deadly weapons.

You can major in English or Fine Arts at the Air Force Academy. There are schools for English and Fine Arts and the Air Force Academy should not be one of them. Are those majors in place for members of the football team? Can anyone name a Chinese collegiate football or basketball team?

Why is basketball popular in China anyway? It is a diversion for the masses and it allowed the PRC to suborn part of the culture of America. When the PORC denounces the NBA, the Chinese people will no longer like it and the revenue stream will dry up overnight. Meanwhile the NMBAS will have carried water for the PRC.

"Analysts are also attempting to piece together the purpose of the missile, which was fired with no obvious target before landing into the sea."

So the Chinese could retrieve it from the South China Sea and keep the secrets instead of the US retrieving it.

Maybe the Chinese are using captured alien technology.... Keep ducking 🙈
