Polish Prime Minister Blames Russian President Putin For Migrant Crisis

BBC: Belarus migrants: Poland PM blames Russia's Putin for migrant crisis

Poland's Prime Minister has accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of being behind a migrant crisis at Belarus's border with Poland.

Mateusz Morawiecki said that Belarus's authoritarian leader, a close ally of Mr Putin, is orchestrating the crisis, but "it has its mastermind in Moscow".

At least 2,000 migrants are stuck at the border in freezing conditions. Belarus's leader Alexander Lukashenko denies claims it is sending people over the border in revenge for EU sanctions.

Update: Poland blames Putin for instigating border crisis (Politico)

WNU Editor: The Kremlin has responded .... Kremlin slams Polish PM’s statements blaming Russia for migration crisis as unacceptable (TASS).

I do not share the Polish PM's opinion that Putin is behind this crisis. What I see is the Kremlin being forced to clumsily respond (again) to Belarusian President Lukashneko's behavior on a situation that brings zero benefit to Russia.

This analysis is spot on .... Putin’s Lovefest With His Dictator BFF Could Bite Him in the Ass (Daily Beast).

All of these migrants are coming from Turkey .... Poland accuses Turkey of 'synchronising' refugee crisis with Belarus and Russia (Middle East Eye), and I concur with MEE's analysis that both countries are coordinating their efforts.

I know this is true because I have traveled to Belarus from Russia numerous times over the years to see friends in Minsk, and I have had first hand experience at the border. I was always asked what was the purpose of my trip and who was I seeing. I doubt that these migrants are being asked these questions. They are being flown in from Turkey, and immediately escorted to the Polish border. And from what I am hearing in Belarus, these migrants are paying Turkish and Belarus authorities to be brought to the Polish border.

How did the illegal immigrants get into Belarus?

Did they illegal cross Russian and then illegally enter Belarus?
Did they illegal cross Ukraine and then illegally enter Belarus?
Did they fly into Belarus?

Ignore above comment. I did not read past the 1st paragraph of blogger commentary.

NATO needs to embargo Belarus. It does not have a strong economy, if it needs Russian bailouts., So embargo and see how long Moscow can prop them up.

Maybe Putin's plan is to let Lukashneko be an ass, secretly encourage him to be an ass, so Belarus gets embargoed and economically collapses. All the while acting as Belarus's benefactor and savior, who is holding a lot of IOUs, which will be forgiven if Belarus joins to in union with Russia.

I agree. The Kremlin is playing the long game.
