Last month, Chisinau declared a state of emergency after Gazprom threatened to cut off gas supplies to Moldova at the end of the year if the impoverished ex-Soviet republic's existing gas contract had not been extended by then.

I hope the leaders of Moldova enjoy diesel fumes and hypothermia. It is the wages of corruption. They are not the only ones. the corruption permeates every walk of life and has become a way of life. So it is not only the leaders, although they may be the most egregious practitioners. Moldova has got to pull itself up by its bootstraps.

Moldova is a way point to SW Ukraine. If it has crappy infrastructure, it will impede NATO. So this corruption is a NATO problem. It is unasked for, but there it is.
