Biden administration officials have also grown alarmed at the massing of Russian military forces near the Ukrainian frontier - prompting officials in Kiev to warn that the Kremlin seeks to 'shatter Europe.'

If this is true, blowing up sats in earth orbit is a very bad idea. The debris stays dynamic for centuries.
True. For an interesting read look up Kessler Syndrome. Doubt it will happen but it's pretty interesting stuff.
