Daily Mail: Radio City's Rockettes CANCEL all remaining shows due to COVID as NYC becomes America's Omicron epicenter: NY sees record day of infections and cases of variant in the US jump 31% in 24 hours 

* Radio City's Rockettes canceled the remainder of their Christmas Spectacular season this year due to breakthrough COVID-19 cases 

* Members of the orchestra and production crew tested positive for COVID, the company said on Friday 

* The breakthrough cases among the Rockettes team come as New York City battles a surge of Omicron infections and a sharp rise in all COVID infections 

* On Thursday, the city said it was sending inspectors to Radio City Music Hall due to reports the venue was not enforcing the vaccination rule for kids aged 5-11 

* This week, Broadway shows - including 'Hamilton,' 'Tina - The Tina Turner Musical,' 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' and 'Ain't Too Proud' - also had to cancel shows due to COVID 

* Kathy Hochul, the governor of New York, said on Friday that she was determined to take care of 'the economic health' of New York City, and urged tourists to visit and locals, safely, to continue with their daily lives 

* Hochul pointed out that the situation was very different to the lockdowns of 2020 because now the country has 'the tools we need' such as vaccinations and the booster 

The world-famous Rockettes have been forced to cancel the remainder of their Christmas Spectacular shows at Radio City Music Hall after production members were hit with COVID-19 on Friday as cases in New York City continue to climb. 

In news that has cast a distinctive chill over New York City, producers announced that the final curtain had fallen for the $100-million-a-season show. 

'We regret that we are unable to continue the Christmas Spectacular this season due to increasing challenges from the pandemic,' a press release stated.
