Authorities in the northern Chinese city of Xi'an have banned "negative news" on social media as many residents took to social media to complain about a citywide lockdown that has left many stranded at home without enough food or access to medical treatment.
"From Jan. 4, people are banned from posting details of the pandemic restrictions or information about the road situation, videos, links, mini-apps or photos of the situation, particularly negative news," the municipal government said in a mass SMS announcement to the city's 13 million residents.

My friends and contacts in China tell me a different story.
That with the Olympics only a few weeks away followed by the Chinese Congress voting to give President Xi a third term, anything and everything will be done to make sure that any Covid outbreaks will be immediately suppressed even if it may mean locking down cities, provinces, and maybe the entire country itself.

In the US we learned early on that lockdowns simply don't work as a tool to slow down or stop this virus. At least the leadership in "red states" did. The only reason to implement them would be insanity or if there's another agenda at work.
