European allies are worried that Vladimir Putin would cut off their supply chain in retaliation for any economic sanctions the United States has vowed to impose in the event of a Russian invasion of Ukraine
* Experts are concerned that President Joe Biden's plan to shore up Europe's supply of natural gas if Vladimir Putin cuts off supplies won't work
* It's unclear how other nations and companies can make up the shortfall
* Qatar, the world's third-largest producer of natural gas, is operating at capacity and has to meet its contracts with Asian customers
* White House downplayed concerns, saying they are looking at range of options
* White House also argues Putin won't cut off the revenue stream Russia gets from natural gas at a time the industry is seeing record profits
* Compounding the problem: European gas reserves are at record lows
* The Biden administration is preparing contingency plans in case Russia cuts off its energy exports to Europe in the event of an invasion of the Ukraine
* U.S. is working with energy producers in Middle East, Asia and North Africa to ensure Europe has enough supplies in case Russia cuts off availability
* European allies are worried that Putin would cut off their supply chain in retaliation for any economic sanctions the U.S. has vowed
* U.S. promising harsh sanctions if Russian invades Ukraine
* 'The gradualism of the past is out. And this time, we'll start at the top of the escalation ladder and stay there,' a senior administration official said
Experts have warned that President Joe Biden's plan to shore up Europe's supply of natural gas if Vladimir Putin cuts off supplies won't work because other nations can't make up the shortfall.
The Biden administration Tuesday said it is preparing to source gas from other countries in case Russia cuts off energy supplies - a scenario European allies fear will come to pass if Moscow invades the Ukraine.
However, Samantha Gross, the Director of Energy Security and Climate Initiative at the Brookings Institution, told DailyMail.com that the imitative was doomed to failure.

WNU Editor: The White House says they can assist Europe in the event of natural gas shortage, and that is everything is alright. But everything is not alright, and their promises to assist Europe in the event of a natural gas shut-off by Russia is not even remotely possible.

It would have been possible a year ago. But since Biden broke the US energy sector, it isn't.
So he will lie and promise the Europeans a non-deliverable policy.
The USA PRODUCES more natural gas than Russia, or any other country. The problem isn’t reserves or production, it’s transport. There is no way the administration can ship the required amount of gas to Europe.
The Europeans were idiots when they signed up to depend on Russian natural gas. Guess their appreciation of history is poor too.
Of course Biden lied. He has lied, since he started running for political office.

I researched your point that the US produces more gas than any other country. All the stats say yes - from 2018 to 2020. But not so much for 2021. Russia by far has the largest reserves, but the US has itself has more NG than it can use in 60 years.
Maybe you can help me out with some links to bolster your point that the US outproduces any other country currently.

Putin: I think I farted!
US: What smells so good?
anon: move to russia if you prefer that to American farts
The Europeans were idiots to think solar energy could power a high north latitude continent. That pesky 23 degree tilt to the earths axis guarantees almost 25% less photons in the winter.
They weren’t idiots signing up for Russian oil and gas. It was cheaper and closer to European markets. But going all in was stupid and corrupt as only governments can do. This entire crisis ends one way. Europe will placate Moscow or freeze. Europe has seen the incompetence of the Democratic Party national security team and the competent but unsympathetic Republican team. Neither are appealing.
Europe will now go its own way with Russia for the predictability and profit. Sure the Baltics might be sacrificed but Germany doesn’t care.
competent but unsympathetic Republican team?
I would get rid of 90% of Democrats and 67% of Republicans.
Liz Cheney competent?
Adam Kinzinger competent?
Romney competent?
Romney had some competence back in the day, but nowadays he has lost his nerve. Romney literally went out of his way to ensure female representation in top job in his company. Democrats made fun of him because the resumes were in 'binders'. All the while Romney could not defend himself against charges of sexism. this was in the days before kindle, iPads and probably before widespread use of laptops. I mean fuck, I prefer paper of a computer screen. I prefer a paper newspaper over an online version. I prefer a real book over an ebook. Maybe Romney did too. So right there Democrats were ageist and leveled a false charge of sexism.
Again you don't mind being stupid do you?
