Daily Beast: African President Was Ousted Just Weeks After Refusing to Pay Russian Paramilitaries

Coup leader tried, and failed, to persuade the Burkina Faso president to sanction the introduction of Russian mercenaries before kicking him out of office.

ABUJA, Nigeria—One of the Burkina Faso president’s final acts in office was refusing to sanction the use of Russian paramilitaries on his soil.

The leader of this week’s successful military coup against him was the very man who tried to pressure him into accepting help from Moscow, sources in the former president’s camp told The Daily Beast.

Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, a lieutenant colonel, was promoted last month to oversee security in the capital city of Ouagadougou. On two occasions he sought to persuade President Roch Kabore to engage Russia’s black ops outfit the Wagner Group, according to two officials who were part of the president's communications team.

Update: After Coup in Burkina Faso, Protesters Turn to Russia for Help (GodFreyTimes/New York Times)

WNU Editor: Western military assistance has failed in stopping the rise of Islamist militancy in this part of Africa. In the case of Burkina Faso, Islamist militants have conducted a number of successful and bloody attacks.

Desperate times results in desperate measures, and we can see it in this country.

But Obama stepped in and put a halt to the use of mercenaries. WHy?

1) They were effective. He could not have them hurting his Muslim Bros.

2) Effectively fighting Boko Haram made the Christian president Goodluck look good.

3) Ah geez, it came down to money. Obama was helping a fellow Democrat make money.

Boko Haram has long been a vile and despicable terrorist organization that has committed some of the most brutally heinous acts against humanity imaginable, but only now is the Obama State Department – with its hand forced – beginning to truly confront their atrocities.

Junta rally. Thousands of people rallied in Burkina Faso’s capital on Tuesday in support of the military junta that deposed the president. A leading nonprofit group involved in the rally warned France against interfering in the political transition, and pictures showed some demonstrators waving Russian flags.

Why are these people so pro Russian? Obama did lots for these people. Every time an Islamic group was on the ropes, he cut aid or embargoed arms or others such actions.

And he held his Monster's Ball of African presidents and dictators. So he cares.

And Michelle. Michele super cares. she had her hashtag diplomacy such as ":Bring Back out Girls" The Obama's cared so much they brought back not one girl.
