So far we are in a dead end and it is hard to see how we can get out of that.

Russia is the main problem in Ukraine. Period!

That said Russia is just as humane or maybe better toward Muslims than the US. An example is Kazan. You can argue that Russia is no better than the US toward treatment of Muslims. Yada yada yada.

One thing you cannot argue this that Russia has a more sober assessment of Islam.

If Kazakhstan falls into a huge crisis, Islamicists would take advantage of it. Howe successful they would be might be debatable. What is not debatable is the threat is very real. Russia has no choice, but to see it does not happen.

So I do not know what hopium Blinken is smoking.

Russia was in Afghanistan to for two reasons. The first was to promote and protect socialism. Guilty. The second was to protect the USSR form salafis coming across the border and proselytising. If the latter is no biggie for you then insist all you female family, friend, and coworkers observe sharia.

Blinken is the biggest idiot to be Secretary of State, which is quite an accomplishment considering the competition.

Hillary Clinton
John Kerry
Madeleine Albright

Blinky: "Once Russians are in your house, sometimes it is very difficult to get them to leave."

Hot damn, my sentiments exactly! When it comes to the US federal government, that is.
