CNN: US conducts strikes in Syria after indirect fire threatens troops
(CNN)The US military conducted strikes in Syria after indirect fire posed what a US-led coalition official called "an imminent threat" to troops near Green Village, a base in the east of the country near the Iraqi border.
While the US is not officially confirming it conducted the strikes, a defense official with direct knowledge noted that only US forces in that area have weapons capable of carrying out these kinds of strikes.
Preliminary assessments have concluded the strikes destroyed the seven Katyusha rocket sites they were targeting.
"Indirect fire attacks pose a serious threat to innocent civilians because of their lack of discrimination," the Operation Inherent Resolve official said in a statement.

Good. The usual politics aside pound the hell out of these f*cks like we used to, at least when I deployed in late 04-05.
America invades a sovereign country, sits on its resources and loots them.
Nobody loves committing war crimes more than America.
Better bomb those "rocket sites" to ensure looting continues.
Strike everywhere but iran lol, love those easy targets.
Fuck of fucks: "America invades a sovereign country, sits on its resources and loots them."
The actual people sitting on the oil would be the Kurds.
The actual people selling on the oil would be the Kurds.
Who elected Assad? The Sunni, who rose up against his police state?
Syria's political system has nothing to do with the legality of the US presence on its territory. the Sunni opposition has been of the jihadist kind for years now, many of which were covertly trained and equipped by the US despite them being no more democratic than Assad, and far more intolerant of religious minorities. the Kurds that the US support and conveniently renamed "Syrian Democratic Forces" are actually marxists
Fuck you Caecus you dick!
The Assads and Syria are big boys. They get into big boy trouble and mix it up. They interfered in Lebanon for decades. They provided material support for jihadis going into Iraq after 2003. If Hezbollah was behind the troubles in the early 1980s, then Iran and probably Syria were too. We owe them big time.
With all the trouble in the Middle east maybe it is time to try a Kurdish state?
"nations based on self-determination Wilson believed that new nations should have borders drawn with consideration to ethnic and national identities "
If Wilson was right about the above, then why not an Kurdish state?
Until the US stepped in Assad had lost Syria except for Latakia and Damascus. Russia assisted and Russia could have done it by itself. As an ally I wonder why they did not do it sooner. Maybe it would be as much of a financial strain to the Russians as Afghanistan was to the Americans?
Assad alone or Assad with the Iranians could not have won against ISIS.
Caecus you are proof that the Russians are not just on Fakebook.
PS: Who care of this it that Sunni group or Kurdish group are Marxist. I don't. My spouse is a former practicing Marxists. People grow out of it. So your point? People can grow out of it unless there is a damned determined oligarchy like the CCP trying to milk it for all its worth. Except for a country the size of Russia or China. Marxists regimes do not have any staying power. For that matter the USSR had no stating power. It was granted 2 reprieves to last as long as it did, China is rather unique. Or is it? There are many quislings in America.
I suspect that Marxist front put forth by the Kurds is a marketing gimmick designed to keep the support of gullible Americans and perhaps a few Western European benefactors coming in. If/when they ever do obtain a state and the real power that would go with that, I suspect they will "grow out of it."
