Will NATO Non-Member's In Europe Join NATO If Russia Invades Ukraine?

Andreas Kluth, Bloomberg: Europe to Russia: Invade Ukraine, and We All Join NATO

(Bloomberg Opinion) -- You may not have been glued to the annual new year’s address by Finland’s president. That’s understandable but unfortunate, because Sauli Niinisto said some remarkable things. His speech should give the European Union an idea, to be discussed not just in Brussels but also — and especially — in the capitals of Sweden, Austria, Ireland, Cyprus and Malta.

These six countries all belong to the EU but are otherwise officially non-aligned, meaning that they are not members of NATO, the transatlantic alliance that kept the peace during the Cold War and currently has to figure out how it would respond to a renewed invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

WNU Editor: Sweden and Finland may join .... or maybe not. The other non-NATO countries (Switzerland, Austria, Ireland, Malta, and smaller Balkan countries) .... IMHO they will try their best to stay neutral.

They won't join. They don't want to be sucked into conflicts that undermine their interests. For this reason O anticipate the US withdrawing from NATO within the next five years or so. Entanglements such as this sap our strength and run contrary to our interests.

Perhaps Poland and other eastern European nations wish to carry on with NATO!! Go for it!! Americans are catching on to your con job and are soon to be done with you!!

Perhaps relations can be continued but you must respect us as equals which you haven't done nor do I expect you to do so. Until such changes in behavior BE GONE FROM US!!

This article is accurate in so far as it exposes a lot of wishful thinking.
