Will The U.S. Department Of Justice Charge Trump With ‘Insurrection’

Fortune: Trump and rioters face legal challenges stemming from Capitol insurrection

One year after thousands of Donald Trump supporters overran the U.S. Capitol while Congress was working to certify Joe Biden’s election as president, the government is still pursuing charges over the attack.

So far more than 725 people have been charged with a variety of crimes stemming from the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection, from breaking the Capitol’s windows to assaulting police officers.

Most have pleaded not guilty, setting up the potential for a swell of trials this year.

There’s also the question of whether the former president or his closest allies will be criminally charged with inciting the riot.

Meanwhile the nation’s top Republican is fighting half a dozen civil suits for his own role in the events, and Trump insiders are challenging subpoenas from the House committee probing the roots of the assault.

Update: White House reveals whether Biden wants DOJ to charge Trump with ‘insurrection’ (RT)

WNU Editor: The US Attorney General has made it very clear that those who were not present at the Capital riot could face charges .... People not physically present at Capitol riot could face charges, Attorney General Merrick Garland announces (CBS). You do not have to be a genius to know who he is talking about.

But the problem that the Attorney General has is that his own FBI have already issued their report that after an extensive investigation, there is no evidence that what happened on January 6th was a planned and coordinated attack .... U.S. Attorney General Garland Vows To Prosecute Anyone Involved In Jan. 6th Whether They Were Present Or Not

My gut is telling me that the Attorney General is going to wait until after the highly partisan Congressional hearings on January 6th have issued their report, and he will then use that report and its conclusions to open a file to lay criminal charges against the former President.

And that is when the "shit storm" is going to hit.

Mrerick Garland has an image problem. He is infamous. He is a toady. By the time Global Warming is supposed to have cause calamity in 2100 Merrick Garland will be infamous. His name will belike that of Mudd or John Wilkes Booth.

Garland is bad, but Kamala Harris is hilarious: she compare 1/6/2021 with...9/11! And why not Hiroshima?

Simply not enough evidence (or the right kind of evidence) to charge Trump. But that's not really their goal. Their goal is to keep him in the news in the most negative way possible. They are TERRIFIED of a 2024 Trump campaign, especially after 4 years of Slow Joe and/or Kamala, if she should take over as president. Prior to 2024, I don't really expect a political "shit storm," simply because I don't expect the DC Repub establishment to fight back. In fact, I doubt they even know how to fight.
