D-Day Arrives In Ukraine! Will Russia Invade Ukraine Or Is Putin Bluffing And Playing For Time?

Russian President Vladimir Putin meets with the Council for Civil Society and Human Rights, December 9, 2021 © Kremlin.ru

Daily Mail: D-Day arrives in Ukraine: Biden says war 'still a risk' amid fears Putin is toying with the West by removing some tanks but deploying MORE troops to the border on the day intelligence agencies predicted invasion would begin

* More Russian troops were seen advancing towards the Ukrainian border Tuesday

* But President Vladimir Putin declared yesterday that he does not want a war

* Russian tanks were pictured being loaded onto trains amid withdrawals

* Western leaders have urged Russia to continue with military pullbacks

* It comes as Ukrainian soldiers tested British-supplied NLAW anti-tank missiles

Russia was last night stepping up preparations to invade Ukraine – despite Vladimir Putin’s claims he favours further talks over military conflict.

Yesterday in a deeply alarming move, and against Russian proclamations, Western nations saw additional Russian troops advancing towards Ukraine’s border. They will bolster the 130,000-strong invasion force.

But in spite of Western evidence that Russians are strengthening frontline forces, President Putin insisted he does ‘not want a war’.

Seems a pretty big bluff, if that's all he's had in mind. To what effect? On the other hand, the cost of an invasion seems a pretty large long term cost in exchange for what exactly? A buffer zone?

^ yes a buffer zone that could prove troublesome in itself for next several years.

Odessa or more of Ukraine would give Russia better access to the Black Sea. Sure Russia has access to the Black Sea now, but those bases do not themselves have a buffer zone. That puts the fleet at risk.

The Russians want a buffer zone in part because Napoleon and Hitler invaded and took Moscow or were at the gates. What is left unsaid by self serving Russian is that the Russians were at the gates of Poland 3 times for the partition, WW2 and the 1920 war. Russians are not exactly warm and cuddly.

The Poles want a buffer zone form the Russians probably more than the Russians want a buffer zone against Europe.

Moscow has been taken from the west. It has also been taken from the east. Maybe the best Nixonian move would be for the US and Russia to ally against China, because at some point they will want the old Qing Empire borders.

Maybe the strategy all along was to threaten with armed forces, so that the Americans would Cry Wolf and thus lose face. The distance involved are on the Russian side and the invasion can be postponed for months if not 2 years.

Having studied how Democrats operate they expected them to get shrill and they did. The Democrats are tough, very tough, when they are going against McConnell class Republicans and poor countries like Ukraine. But they know Democrats are not tough against peers. They do not have the stomach for it and the Russians have judged this to be true correctly.

ARE YOU SUGGESTING THAT THE GOP UNDER TRUMP OR ANY OTHER PERSON WOULD STRIKE BACK AT A RUSSIAN INVASION? simply calling your opponent names does not alter the fact that Trump never said one bad word about Russia. Never. Not once.

Clinton did not say bad words against the Russians. He spoke a few words for 30 minutes, received $500,000 and was on his way after servicing them?
