Vladimir Putin 'doesn't give a s**t' about the risk of Western sanctions if his country were to invade Ukraine, Russia's ambassador to Sweden said as US staff began withdrawing from eastern Ukraine amid warnings of an 'imminent' invasion.
In an outspoken interview yesterday, Viktor Tatarintsev told the country's Aftonbladet newspaper that 'the more the West pushes Russia, the stronger the Russian response will be'.
He claimed Russia had become more 'self-sufficient' amid the threat of sanctions and accused the West of not understanding his country.

Chill time.
It depends on how highly he values adding an additional buffer zone between Russia and Europe/NATO
Europe needs a buffer zone against an aggressive Russia. Moscow needs to be moved to the east of the Urals.
Western "sanctions" won't last long. "Western' nations need to protect vital economic relations with Russia. Cut Russia off from SWIFT, you end SWIFT. While getting around SWIFT may be inconvenient, lozs of Russian trade to them is suicidal to them and they will NOT committ suicide for our leadership class.
Our leadership class should not take up Poker. They'd be a quite bad at it!!
Putin has managed to revive NATO when Trump made it of no importance.
The analysis is correct. SWIFT is a matter of convience. Trade with Russia for the Euros is mission critical for them and they will act accordingly. SWIFT is gone without warning shouid our government continue the current course of action.
The "troll" is the one who replied to my comment. Perhaps he/she is a member of our leadership class. Obviously he/she has no grasp of geopolitical realities.
Trolling hard their Russki.
Putin Fan boy is asserting that if Russia invades Ukraine and the USs cuts Russia off from SWIFT that Europe, Canada, South America etc will not use SWIFT?
What the does the stand for?
Banal?
Boastful?
Butt Boy?
Bolshevik>
...
They won't use SWIFT. I've explained it to you. They value their survival and won't sacrifice it for you or our leadership class.
Summer is coming
You explained shit. Russian economy would contract faster than Europe's. Go that route.
You are piss poor excuse for a troll. A red blooded Texan would be watching the Super Bowl. You aren't. Ina real office they will talk about the Super Bowl on Monday at leas tin passing.
I explained it. You apparently didn't read. I don't have time to spoon it to you.
No, actually you did not. And no, I do not want to spoon with you.
Then we're in agreement on something. Maybe you missed my explanation. Time permitting I will revisit it. Also, I think the topic of SWIFT and how cutting Russia off of it would impact SWIFT. The short answer is such a move would effectively end it.
It is tax season and you are purported American tax accountant in a small to mid-sized accounting firm. You are not an HR employee.
Yet here you are.
