Editor's Note

It looks like the police in Canada will be trying to break-up the trucker blockades today.

I am leaving to Ottawa right now to be a witness to this. My intention is to stay there for a few hours, and be back late this afternoon.

As for the Ukraine crisis.

Ukraine President Zelensky is saying that warnings of a Russian invasion is 'provoking panic', and he is demanding to see firm proof (link here). He is not going to get it.

I have family in Ukraine, and I have advised my cousins in Kyiv that they should get out of Kyiv in the next few days. Fortunately, we all still maintain my grand-parents home that is 75km south of the city, and it will be a safe place in the event of war.

My aunt and her family live in the city of Kharkiv, and they just told me they are going to stay put. I have told all of them that should they decide to leave the country, the ones who have visas can stay at my home in Montreal. Fortunately, some members of my family went through the troubles in the past two months to get these necessary Canadian documents to be prepared for the worse case scenario.

As for my family/friends/and contacts in Russia. No one wants this invasion to take place. There is 100% opposition to it. But Russian social media is right now abuzz with speculation on what will happen next, and many are expecting an invasion will take place. This is the Russian mindset. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worse because that is what usually happens.

As to what is my take.

In the end this will be Putin's decision to make. This will be a war of choice, and it will cement his legacy regardless on what happens.

I hope Putin is listening to his better angels. IMHO an invasion of Ukraine will be a humanitarian and economic disaster not only for Ukraine, but also for Russia and Europe. The impact on oil and commodities will be devastating, and it will guarantee a global recession that will take a long time to recover. The suffering will be immense, and deep.

Russia will then also own the Ukraine mess, and all the responsibilities to fix it. I think Putin knows that. Which is why I believe an all-out invasion will not occur.

But I could be wrong.

I believe Tucker is wrong and that things are getting very dangerous for the truckers. They still have options but, whenever you have to depend on the goodwill of a tyrant, his police state, and his military, things aren’t going well.

- Andrea Widburg

I believe Andrea is correct.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Sinclair-Castro is just stupid. How are you going to put a person in jail for a year, fine them 100,000 and take away their truck and then expect to meet the 55,000 trucker shortfall in the coming year?

This on top of the inefficiencies caused by made up COVID protocols.

If you believe Putin is trying to divide Germany from the USA the next steps for Putin would be engagement with Scholz for guarantees. Putin wants NATO out of Ukraine. Scholz can give him that guarantee since membership can be vetoed by one country.

Putin wants NATO pulled back from the Baltics and Poland. Germany can provide written guarantees to oppose any further reinforcements to nations near to Russia.

Putin wants a voice on any deployments near Russian borders, again Germany can provide those.

Should this happen Putin gets a huge win, a divided NATO and a voice in Brussels.
Soon we know if this was his goal.

Various libturds and libtards have been going on and on about secret and top secret documents that Trump 'has'.

9 Surprising Facts on U.S. White House Fireplaces

Well, come on man, if you have a choice between burning a document in fireplace or flushing it down a toilet, which one would you pick? If you are a normal person you would use a fireplace. If you are a Democrcat politician or operative in the press, you would flush it.

Breaking the law via toilet would certainly complete one Trump-era story arc

For the 15 boxes of documents — some classified and marked “top secret” — the long journey from former president Donald Trump’s gilded Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Fla., to a secure facility in the Washington area began last summer, when the National Archives and Records Administration reached out to Trump’s team to alert them that some high-profile documents from his presidency appeared to be missing.

But it was not until the end of the year that the boxes were finally readied for collection, according to two people familiar with the logistics, one of whom described the ordeal as “a bit of a process.”

At one point, Archives officials threatened that, if Trump’s team did not voluntarily produce the materials, they would send a letter to Congress or the Justice Department revealing the lack of cooperation, according to a third person familiar with the situation.

'Scranton Joe' Biden says he's all for the working man, BUT his demand that Canada break the backs of the Freedom Convoy PROVES he's nothing more than a hypocritical elitist,

a large majority of Canadians want that blockage to stop. They are the working folks who now are put on leave from jobs etc because of blocking traffic. In passing: 90 of truckers are vaccinated in Canada and the big Trucker's Union also opposes what a few are doing to shut down the economy by stopping the flow of needed goods.

Putin will probably execute a limited action in Eastern Ukraine keeping his conventional forces in those areas with significant ethnic Russian population. Geographically link Crimea to Russia. If that works, and with Biden leading the West it’s a good bet it will after all he’s been given the green light for a ‘Limited Incursion’, then Kaliningrad is next on the list.
Sure, there will be sanctions but oil is almost $100 a barrel and as long as winter still comes once a year NordStream will eventually flow Russian LNG to Europe.

The Russian concept of ‘security’ isn’t understood well in the West and not at all in Washington DC. Additionally, the concept of ‘suffering’ isn’t either. When your grandma humped an infantry rifle in Stalingrad your feelings about foreign armies near your national border is a bit different than if you grew up in Scranton, PA.

The convoy participants lack the support of the general public, which is largely vaccinated. They also lack the support of most Canadian truckers, 90 percent of whom are vaccinated, and of the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA).

The truckers are endorsed largely by leading U.S. Republicans such as Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and Marjorie Taylor Greene, along with some Canadian conservative politicians. Support has also come from powerful anti-democratic social media figures such as Tucker Carlson, Jordan Peterson and Elon Musk, and an array of white supremacist groups. Some of the more powerful right-wing groups in Canada include Action4Canada, which makes the false and conspiracy-riddled claim that the COVID-19 pandemic “was carried out, at least in part, by Bill Gates and a ‘New World (Economic) Order’ to facilitate the injection of 5G-enabled microchips into the population.” With the help of the social media, support for the Freedom Convoy protests snowballed globally with upcoming convoys being planned for the United States, France and all 27 European countries.

The Freedom Convoy protests is the brainchild of James Bauder, who heads the Canada Unity movement, which launched the protests. Bauder believes in multiple baseless conspiracy theories and “has endorsed the QAnon movement and called Covid-19 ‘the biggest political scam in history.’” Bauder is no friend of organized labor and, as Jacobin has noted, two years ago he participated in another convoy called United We Roll that “planned an anti-union protest where convoy members threatened to dismantle the picket line and run over workers.”

Other leaders in the movement include some hard right extremists such as Patrick King who, according to The Conversation, once “stated that he believes the vaccine was created to ‘depopulate’ the white race.” Another convoy leader named B.J. Dichter has a reputation for spreading Islamophobic sentiments.

So there is a governor that said people had to stay home under house arrest. they could not go boating on a lake, because they might spread COVID across a mile of water to someone else.

"Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's husband urged a business to get his boat in the water in time for Memorial Day weekend, according to social media posts, while she was publicly telling cooped-up residents to resist flocking to popular vacation areas during the coronavirus pandemic." - ABC News

46% of Canadians sympathize with trucker convoy, but many disagree with their tactics: poll

https://ottawa.citynews.ca/local-news/two-thirds-of-canadians-support-military-force-to-end-ottawa-protests-poll-5057526

This is going to end badly for both sides.

The truckers went to the border after the government told them to fuck off.

Prime Minister Sinclair-Castro smeared the truckers as NAZIS. If or when the truckers are jailed he is going to feel his oats and lead Canada further down the low road.

Jan 6 NOT a patriot event. if you think so, then why so many guilty pleas?

Exactly , 1000 car toots in support , 10 million F U fingers behind closed doors nightly in Canada.
A more ignorant and selfish bunch of Aholes would be hard to find .

So a trucker makes daily, biweekly or weekly runs form Canada to Detroit and fazman expects them to quarantine for two weeks every time the cross the border?

So instead 200 trips across the border they get to make 26?

Does fazman see the problem in economics there?

For refusing to take a vaccine that does not prevent catching COVID or transmitting COVID and that has decreasing protection over time and is less or very much less effective with different variants.

How many guilty pleas to insurrection?

0 so far. I might expect 1 to 7 or 1 to 20 with the Oath Keeper Founder being an FBI informant.

When the founder of a group is an FBI informant is screams of entrapment.

Agree with some of your points. Mostly about the potential geographic link and limited incursion but it could be wishful thinking. Hopefully not.
