President Biden Ignores Questions On Ukraine While Out To Lunch In DC

Daily Mail: Biden ignores questions on Ukraine while out to lunch in DC as Kamala Harris meets with Ukrainian president Zelensky and threatens Putin with 'significant and unprecedented' sanctions if Russia invades: 160,000 troops are 'poised to strike'

* President Joe Biden went out to eat Saturday in DC with Hunter Biden's daughters Finnegan and Naomi Biden and Naomi's fiancé Peter Neal

* 'Good to see you' was all the president would say as he waved to reporters on his way to the motorcade to return to the White House

* Biden on Friday declared that Putin had made up his mind to invade Ukraine and it could be launched in days

* Harris met with Ukrainian president Zelensky and said the United States and its allies were prepared to impose 'significant and unprecedented' economic costs on Russia if it further invades Ukraine

* Harris, who wore a mask for her meeting, said the US and its allies have tried to engage with Russia to find diplomatic solutions but their efforts have not been met by the Kremlin in good faith

* 'We will target Russia's financial institutions and key industries, and we will target those who... aide and abet this unprovoked invasion'

* She also implied the Kremlin had launched false flag attacks as a pretext for war, hours after a gas pipeline blast and car bomb rocked pro-Russian cities in Eastern Ukraine

* The United States will not stop with economic measures, but will further reinforce the Eastern flank of NATO, Harris said at the conference

* Friday was the first time the US has said Russia will invade. 'I'm convinced he's made the decision,' said Biden of Russian President Vladimir Putin

* On Friday night, Biden tweeted that he hoped war could be averted between Russia and Ukraine

* 'We're calling out Russia's plans. Not because we want a conflict, but because we are doing everything in our power to remove any reason Russia may give to justify invading Ukraine'

President Joe Biden dodged questions from the press about the escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine after a lunch out Saturday with his granddaughters in Washington, D.C.

'Good to see you,' the president responded to reporters' questions as he left The Hamilton restaurant after a meal with Hunter Biden's daughters Finnegan Biden and Naomi Biden, and Naomi's fiancé Peter Neal.

Vice President Kamala Harris, on the other hand, had plenty to say over the weekend.

WNU Editor: President Biden is doing the same thing that he did before the fall of Afghanistan. He ignored the Press when he was outside the White House. Delayed as much as possible to comment on the crisis. When it got bad he would read a prepared statement to the press that never came close to answering the questions that the press and everyone else wanted him to answer. It was only after the fall of Afghanistan that President Biden took a lot of questions from the press .... and again .... not satisfying anyone.

With an administration like that, Ukraine will be first followed by Georgia and Baltic sates later.

Well, in an other hand, I understand Sleepy Joe. Food first, digestion second, nap third and other little problem later.

After Trump derided and weakened the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Biden has rallied NATO on Ukraine's behalf.

After Trump pressured Russia's beleaguered neighbor for his personal benefit, Biden has steeled Americans for shared sacrifice in defense of Ukraine's right of self-determination.

After Trump deferred to Russian President Vladimir Putin over the US government's own intelligence agencies, Biden has deployed those agencies' tradecraft in a multi-pronged transatlantic effort to deter Russian aggression.

"You couldn't get a sharper contrast," Hill observed in an interview.

For the moment, at least, she sees Biden's approach paying some dividends.

As described in her recent memoir, There Is Nothing For You Here, Hill followed an unusual path to becoming one of America's leading experts on Russia. Raised in a working-class family in Britain, she parlayed academic scholarships into advanced degrees from Harvard and an analyst's job at the National Intelligence Council beginning in 2006 during President George W. Bush's administration.

Witnessing Britain's industrial decline helped her understand the populist appeals Trump rode to the White House. But the celebrity real-estate developer's handling of foreign policy in the Oval Office -- driven not by expertise or the national interest but by his personal experiences, impulses and interests -- was like nothing Hill or her national security colleagues had ever seen.

"There's no Team America for Trump," Hill recalled. "Not once did I see him do anything to put America first. Not once. Not for a single second."

It showed in Trump's praise for the authoritarian leader of Russia, an American adversary that had boosted his finances as a business executive. It showed in his reluctance to embrace America's mutual defense commitments to European allies, which for decades have constrained Russian behavior; instead, Trump treated NATO as what Hill called a "protection racket."

President Biden continues to monitor the evolving situation in Ukraine, and is being updated regularly about events on the ground by his national security team. They reaffirmed that Russia could launch an attack against Ukraine at any time.

This afternoon, the President received an update on the Vice President’s meetings at the Munich Security Conference with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine, European Commission President von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg, leaders of the Baltic states (Prime Minister Kallas of Estonia, President Levits of Latvia, and President Nauseda of Lithuania), Chancellor Scholz of Germany, Prime Minister Mitsotakis of Greece, and leaders of other Allies and partners.

Tomorrow, the President will convene a meeting of the National Security Council on the situation in Ukraine.
