President Biden 'Promises' He Will Stop Nord Stream 2 Pipeline If Russia Invades Ukraine

Daily Mail: Biden 'promises' he will STOP Nord Stream 2 pipeline turning on if Putin invades Ukraine and tells ALL Americans to leave Kiev: German Chancellor Scholz doesn't mention gas project - but insists he is 'united' with the US against Russia

* President Joe Biden confirmed there will be no Nord Stream 2 pipeline if Russia invades the Ukraine although he did not detail how that would be accomplished

* Biden met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the White House

* 'If Russia invades - that means tanks and troops crossing the border of Ukraine again - then there will no longer be Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it,' Biden said

* But Biden didn't say how - the pipeline stretches 764 miles from Russia across Baltic states and into Germany * 'I promise you we'll be able to do it,' the president said

* Scholz wouldn't mention Nord Stream 2 by name but only said U.S. and Germany are 'united' when it comes to Russian aggression

* 'We're acting together,' the chancellor said. 'We're absolutely united and we will not take different steps'

* Meeting comes as Germany accused of being 'missing in action' on Ukraine

* Allies frustrated Scholz won't send lethal weapons to Ukraine, increase German troops in Eastern Europe or say which sanctions he'll back

President Joe Biden confirmed on Monday that there will be no Nord Stream 2 pipeline if Russia invades the Ukraine although he did not detail how that would be accomplished.

Biden made his remarks in a press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Germany would be one of the biggest benefiters of the pipeline.

The country relies on 50 percent of its natural gas supply from Russia.

'If Russia invades - that means tanks and troops crossing the border of Ukraine again - then there will no longer be Nord Stream 2.

We will bring an end to it,' Biden said.

Scholz has had his meeting with Biden, seen for himself the senility and infirmity of Biden, now is beating it back to Berlin. He knows Biden is out of it so Putin, Macron and Scholz will solve this on their own. That means Putin gets important concessions.

Biden gave the green light to Nord Stream 2 instead of keeping the US energy sector intact. He should have negotiated gas contracts with Europe instead of the suicide Green New Deal.

He's forfeited the power and influence to shut it down. Germany will not allow its citizens to freeze in February in order to follow Biden into war with Russia.

What will happen is energy prices will sky rocket as a result of sanctions on foreign energy producers - from whome the US now buys its fuel - resulting in huge price increases for Americans and Europeans.

Russia has positioned itself pretty well right now. Biden has screwed us all.

How long do you realistically think Germany would buy US LNG at double or triple the price? One tanker accident (explosion) and they'd be back looking at the pipeline that's just sitting right there already.

It wasn't "double or triple the price". It was to be at market price. Exactly the price they will now pay.

Maybe you could provide a link to show that the US would charge Germany and Europe "double or triple the price".

And I can't name the last time an LNG tanker had an accident (explosion). It would be equivalent to a small nuke.

But now Russia has the leverage to extract any price or concessions out of NATO members it wants. And that could well end up being "double or triple the price".

I saw one in person once. Big Deal you say. Yes, you are right. It was no big deal except to the guy next to me, the day 3rd, was all but sweating bullets. IF Apple watch had been around back then, his blood pressure would have been found to to be spiking. He had a decade or two of experience in the merchant marine. He said if one of those went up it would be like a small nuke.

But how many have you heard of exploding?

None have exploded as far as I know. The last big LNG blast was an LNG tank being dismantledon Staten Island, NY in the 1973. That was like a small nuke going off. Killed 40 plus.

How many people know that? I went to a maritime school and did not hear of it, because it was not a shipping disaster.

"Smoke billows from the top of the containment tank at the Texas Eastern LNG facility in Staten Island. Workmen inside the tank were refurbishing the tank walls when a worker using a torch set off a massive explosion. The explosion caused the containment roof to collaspe killing all 40 workers inside."

The LNG tank was on land. The tank did not explode under working conditions. It was being REFURBISHED! Now, if you are an OSHA inspector or in the petrochemical world and do maintenance or OSHA compliance, you have heard of this.

It was horrible. 40 people died. And for some reason there is not many articles I can pull up. If an tanker had blown up in NYC harbor in 1973 that would be news. I'm pretty sure the FSB is up for a Black Tom Explosion. Tell you buddy Vlad P.

A generations and a half ago.

48 years ago: Staten Island liquefied natural gas ..

Maybe you can come up with something that happened 2 or 3 generations ago which affected equipment built under different safety standards?

"However, the tank had a polyurethane lining, which enabled gas to be trapped inside the lining even after the liquid had been drained. At the time of the explosion, the men were sealing cracks in the plastic lining of the tank."

Thus the need for special paint in AFV.

Better use of or use of period of forced draft fans?

Wonder if those guys use a gas detector back in the day?
