Russian President Putin Orders Troops To The Breakaway Regions In Eastern Ukraine

Daily Mail: Putin orders 'peacekeeping forces' into two pro-Russian regions in eastern Ukraine after Biden hit them with sanctions: Vlad says Ukraine 'is a US colony with a puppet regime that could soon have WMD'

* President Joe Biden signed an executive order on Monday sanctioning the two regions in Eastern Ukraine that Vladimir Putin declared 'independent republics'

* Biden had a 35-minute call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday to 'discuss the events of the last hours'

* He also convened a meeting with his National Security team Monday as Russian President Vladimir Putin gave a televised address

* Putin said he will sign a decree recognizing the Donetsk and Luhansk rebel regions in Eastern Ukraine as independent states from Ukraine

* It paves the way for Putin to invade Ukraine on the basis of agreements with those 'states' to protect them from 'genocide' from Kyiv

* Also comes after the U.S. said this action would 'necessitate a swift and firm response from the United States in full coordination with our Allies'

Vladimir Putin ordered a 'peacekeeping mission' in Ukraine’s eastern breakaways of Donetsk and Luhansk on Monday night after President Joe Biden said he would hit the two regions with sanctions following Russia declaring them 'independent republics'.

Putin’s decrees declaring the so-called DPR and LPR as sovereign states also included so-called ‘peacekeeping’ missions – the first real step toward a full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

Biden immediately issued on Monday economic sanctions on the two regions and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said Putin calling the regions 'independent' required a 'swift and firm response'.

WNU Editor:  And so it begins.

I expected Putin to wait until there was a Western respond to his recognition of Donetsk and Luhansk. He did not have to wait long. With new US and Western sanctions being imposed on Denetsk and Luhansk, Putin made the decision that this was enough for him to deploy Russian forces into eastern Ukraine.

Events could now quickly spiral out of control, or not. The next few days are going to be critical on where this crisis is heading.

The odds of getting elected as a pro Russian politician in Ukraine just went to zero. Now there are less Russians in the Ukraine. Cutting off your nose to spite your face.👃

" a Western respond to his recognition of Donetsk and Luhansk. He did not have to wait long."

No shit sherlock, which is not directed at WNU, but at the political and chattering classes.

If the sanctions were directed at Russia instead of Donetsk and Luhansk, Putin might have waited a day or maybe a few.

When the sanction were against "countries" that are nothings, Putin knew the West was weak. What did they expect?

And Biden sanctions eastern Ukraine. Not Russia, Ukraine. Nothing projects impotence like totally confused and misdirected impotence.

/But I'm sure its a very complicated and well thought out strategy.

Of course it's well "thought out", which would be difficult to do while your leg hair is being stroked.
