U.S. And Allies Ready To Retaliate For Russian Cyberattacks On Ukraine

Reuters: U.S., allies ready to retaliate for Russian cyberattacks, say officials

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States and its allies are prepared to respond to Russian cyberattacks amid escalating tensions over Ukraine, with the scope of retaliatory actions or sanctions depending on the severity of the hacks, U.S. and European officials said on Tuesday.

U.S. President Joe Biden, speaking hours after Ukraine reported its defense ministry and two banks had been hacked, told reporters that Washington was coordinating closely with NATO allies and other partners to expand defenses against threats in cyberspace.

The attacks, believed by Western security experts to have been carried out by Russia, were not unexpected, U.S. and European officials said, requesting anonymity.

Russia's Federal Security Service did not immediately reply to a request for comment from Reuters.

This is interesting.

In from the cold: Putin ditches 20ft table he used to keep Macron at bay for cosy trade talks with Brazil's Bolsonaro - as threat of war with Ukraine looms large

So Macron and Scholz-o-matic flew to Moscow to meet with Putin. Why? They had nothing. They got nothing. But they got pictures. So they did it for French and German domestic consumption. Macron certainly did it for domestic consumption. He has elections coming-up in 10 April 2022.

Putin kept Macron away, farther than a proverbial 10 foot pole. He does not like the lying, empty headed liberal politician Macron.

Look how Putin treated Bolsonaro.

It is very easy to see who Putin respects and does not respect.

Putin odes not respect Biden, Obama, Blinken, Milley, Austin, Kamala or the rest of them and that should scare you.

nope. I unlike you prefer women, and no dictators.

In a remarkable diplomatic display Wednesday, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who resisted domestic appeals as well as pressure from U.S. officials to cancel his visit to Moscow, sat knee to knee with Putin and declared that Brazil was in “solidarity” with Russia. Putin then named Brazil as Russia’s most important partner in Latin America.

Bolsonaro did not specify in what regard Brazil was in solidarity with Russia, but his comments and visit with Putin are certain to be interpreted as tacit support for Russia at a moment when the West is calling it a belligerent military power poised to plunge Europe into war.

For Brazil, the meeting amounted to a remarkable about-face for a president who has spent years embracing the American flag, cultivating a network of Republican contacts and evoking Soviet-style socialism and communism as global evils that Brazil must repudiate. It also again betrayed Bolsonaro’s personalistic approach to foreign policy. He loved the United States when President Donald Trump was in charge. He loves it much less without him.

Now he has brought Latin America’s largest and most powerful country into an embrace with one of the United States’ greatest foreign adversaries.

Poor 7:02. He is older than dirt, but I dare say dirt has a higher IQ than "Mr. I copy and past Washington Post articles".

Many Brasilians have not like Democrat presidents since Jimmy Carter went on his morality tour.

Truth be told just about everything liberals and Democrats do irritates Brasilians.

Cap that off with America being militarily, economically and diplomatically weak under the Biden/Obama blended presidency and of course Bolsonaro is going to meet Putin along with many of out other rallies such as Germany and France.

America can ill afford Biden, Obama and their crews.
