U.S. Secretary of State Blinken Had No Answer When Asked On Why Putin Didn’t Escalate During The Trump Administration

WNU Editor: President Trump constantly communicated with Russian President Putin during his Presidency to build and develop a personal relationship with the Russian leader to avoid situations like the one that is happening today.

This is also how President Trump defused the crisis on the Korean peninsula. He worked hard at developing a personal relationship with the North Korean leader at a time when many thought a war was going to happen.

International diplomacy is all about personal relations. Doubly so at a Presidential level. That is why we have Global summits and  meetings .... it is all about developing these bonds so that if a crisis does occur, the leaders are not coming at each other blind.

When I was a diplomat this is what I always worked on. Developing personal relationships with my counterparts. And when a dispute occurred .... and they always did .... it was easy to find common ground and solve it.

This is what the President of the United States must also do, albeit at a higher level. He must develop these relationships with world leaders so that when a crisis does occur, he can use this personal bond to defuse it quickly.

This is also how Russian President Putin operates. I still remember when Putin met Trump for the first time at a G20 summit. He ignored all the other leaders at the summit, but he made a beeline to President Trump to shake his hand. And President Trump responded, because he had already told the Russian foreign minister and Russian Ambassador in their first Oval Office meeting months prior that he wanted better relations with Russia .... an Oval Office meeting that Trump's critics condemned at the time over allegations that he shared Israeli intelligence with them.

This is why I am worried about the current crisis. There is no Putin - Biden personal relationship. How else can you explain a situation where after each time they talked, the Ukraine crisis only got worse.

Another worry that I have is that there are no backroom channels between the two leaders. If there was there would have been no need for French President Macron to jump into the crisis and try to arrange a summit between the two leaders yesterday. A summit that I fear will not happen because there is ... to put it bluntly .... no common ground between the two sides.

That's because Biden isn't really in charge of his faculties a chunk of the time and his handlers can't have him going off script. So we're stuck with a shadow presidency (Klein, etc) and Putin does not respect that and will exploit it for his own purposes.

What if Biden is bought & paid for by the Chinese? What if they're pushing the USA into a war with Russia? Then when the gunsmoke clears, the Chinese step in to rule the world? Keep ducking 🙈

Biden is very good in relationship: he calls Putin a "criminal".

If Trump built relationships etc with Putin then why was every phone call and meeting between the two kept secret from congress and the public?
Trump is known to always seek public acknowledgment of his "greatness and abilities."

Stupid,

If Trump committed Treason or did something wrong, then el presidente as the chief declassifier could declassify those conversations. He has been in office for a year and a month.

Biden has not because there is no there there.

But you are good for bringing it up again and whining again.

I have no idea what your rant is all about. I merely said that since our editor noted the great friendship between Putin and Trump, and that such a friendship might have steered things away from the present crisis, that in fact we do not know anything whatsoever about what got said on any of their meetings or phone calls. Your snippy reference to Biden: how could Biden declassify what was and remained kept from all sources in their meeting. There was nothing to declassify. It was and continues to remain a secret. And that of course is a first in American political histrory.

Diplomacy is all about relationships. Trump defused North Korea when everyone was trying to pin WW3 on him and Kim. He also spoke to Putin regularly by phone and I am sure the Ambassadors communictaed the same. China was the same until Covid caused its issues.

Biden has all but called Putin every name in the book since 2008 and it is hard to develop a relationship when Biden starts out like Obama and hates Putin. This is the result.

The Russians are masters at turning things around and they will screw the Biden administration to the wall with this. Blinken and Sullivan are like Frat boys and Bidens an old fool and will be treated as such. Next up is China/Taiwan and North Korea popping a nuke again, and they will wipe the floor with Joe Biden and company.
