After Intense White House Pressure, Poland’s Government Will Now Hand Over All Their MiG-29 Fighter Jets To The US Air Force’s Ramstein Air Base In Germany

The Guardian: Poland to give MiG-29 jets to US for expected donation to Ukraine

Poles are believed to have 28 Soviet-era fighters which they hope the US will replace with newer American planes

Poland has said it will hand over its MiG-29 fighter jets to the US, which is then expected to donate them to Ukraine amid intelligence agency warnings that Vladimir Putin is about to “double down” in his invasion.

The Polish foreign minister, Zbigniew Rau, said his government was “ready to deploy – immediately and free of charge – all their MiG-29 jets to the Ramstein air base and place them at the disposal of the government of the United States of America”.

Poland is thought to have 28 of the Soviet-era warplanes, and has been in negotiation with the Biden administration on a three-way deal to supply Ukraine with air power, on condition that the MiGs would be replaced by newer US jets.

WNU Editor: How will these jets be transferred from the US Air Force’s Ramstein Air Base in Germany to Ukraine? And how will Ukraine be able to maintain these jets since most of their airfields have been targeted and the resources to maintain and arm these jets to be operational are limited at best? The reporter in the above video is justifiably confused.

As to what is my take.

This makes no sense unless you want to use this American air base to launch airstrikes using these MiGs against Russian forces in Ukraine .... or to pull a pr-stunt to show the US trying to do something. I hope for all of our sake this is just a pr-stunt.

Me too wnu. To much risk for very little payoff. Glad to hear some of your family made it out ok. This war is a lot more violent than I thought it would be.🙁

@WNU it can make sense to amass war fighting planes under the central command of the USA in case a NATO country or NATO curious country gets invaded after Ukraine.
It's perhaps about getting these planes ready in case of all out conventional war

PR Stunt? They will always try. I think they did not think this one out.

There has got to be airfield in Wester Ukraine extent or fixable. As soon as runway get fixed, I suppose the Russians will kindly send over another cruise missile and pothole it. Roads could also be used. Wonder what the FOD hazard odds on that.

The US might do maintenance at Rammstein, have the Ukrainians fly it to Ukraine. Touch down, refuel and then attack. Touch down in Ukraine, refuel re-arm and attacks again. If it needs serious maintenance it flies back to Rammstein.

Those touch downs in Ukraine would serve as a "middleman" fooling exactly no one. But what the fuck is Putin going to complain about? He launched an attack from a 3rd country, Belarus, which greatly complicated. Ukraine's defense.

Complicating Ukraine's defense by going through Ukraine is like Germany going through Belgian. Sure it bypasses defenses, but it is also a violation of war. Unless Belarus is at war with Ukraine. Is it?

Going through Belarus to get around defenses looks a lot like the Schlieffen Plan except Belarus is semi-complicit unlike poor Belgium. It is a twist on the Schlieffen Plan for sure.

Unless the Russians pull something off in two weeks I think they are in trouble unless they go nuclear.

IMO nuclear exchange is bad (duh), Russia wining is bad, the US winning is bad, Islam winning is bad and China winning is bad. The EU is almost as bad.

The UN is not bad. It is just mostly useless.

US came out hours ago declining this plan as not feasible

Why did they put them on a US base in Germany? Simple. Poland wants nothing to do with being engaged in the war. They probably won't even grant the MIGs authorization to fly over Polish airspace if delivered to Ukraine. I suspect Poland is probably getting a bunch of free F-16s in return too so maybe an easy upgrade.

US pours cold water on Poland's 'untenable' offer to hand over all their MIG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine: Pentagon says plan 'raises serious concerns for NATO alliance' in the face-off with Putin

So the cabal running the US flip flopped.

It is not Poland's untenable plan. It is the US's fuck-up. Just as Belarus had cold feet about sending their own troops, because Russia is losing. Poland is afraid the US will leave it hanging or that it will take the brunt of any reprisal.

This charade of using Poland as a middle man speaks of moral weakness. The Cabal is too afraid of putting their own foot forward, so are hiding behind midsized country Poland.
