.... NATO announced it is doubling, to eight, the number of countries in Eastern Europe where the alliance is deploying battlegroups. The decision to bolster its presence in the region signals growing concerns for how Russia may respond to the increasing diplomatic and economic penalties it is facing over its monthlong invasion of Ukraine.
The new NATO battlegroups in Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia join similar forces in Baltic countries and Poland — which are also growing in size.
“We have a responsibility to ensure that the war does not escalate beyond Ukraine, and become a conflict between NATO and Russia,” said Jens Stoltenberg, NATO’s secretary general.
A little more than a quarter of all troops under direct NATO command are now in Poland, which shares a large border with the western part of Ukraine. An additional 120,000 troops from Poland’s military are at the ready — the most of any host country in the alliance.

That's some serious firepower.
Conventional knowledge says that attackers should be looking for a 3:1 troop advantage vs defenders. This Russian invasion has seen the inverse where 200,000 Russian soldiers have been deployed against 600,000-700,000+ Ukrainian soldiers (and reservists).
It's impossible to tell from this conflict what an actual peer to peer scuffle between half a million NATO troops and half a million Russian troops would look like, aside from most of them (on both sides) having the life sucked out of their lungs by thermobaric weaponry long before they ever get a chance to fire their rifle.

This is an insightful read from a DIA intelligence analyst in the Pentagon.
What you have said makes sense. But I was told that tactics less important than logistics, and Russia has totally botched that up, and thus acquired huge losses. And in addition, invaded at the wrong time of the year and hence lots of their tanks and trucks got mired down in the muddy season.
We have faith in Joe Biden. Watch the eyes. like you were James. I never knew ceilings could be so interesting. Sure we have faith in President Cognitive Decline.

3 to 1 is a rule of thumb
Here is question. Where does that 3 to 1 only take into account manpower?
The Russians had a preponderance of artillery, aircraft (fixed and helo), tanks and naval power.
They had surprise. Both strategic and tactical. They came out Ukraine from all 4 sides.
If you compare Russia's invasion of Ukraine to Germany's invasion of Poland it is a disaster. I think they will win through sheer numbers and throw weight especially, since Joe-Joe has been a day late and a dollar short.
Maybe you're right. I'm gonna go with the DIA analyst on this one however.
