WASHINGTON (Reuters) -A broad bipartisan majority of Americans think the United States should stop buying Russian oil and gas and work with NATO to set up "no-fly zones" to protect Ukraine from Russian air strikes, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll completed on Friday.
The poll, conducted Thursday and Friday, suggests that U.S. outrage is growing over Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which in recent days has increasingly involved Russian bombing of urban areas.
hat puts pressure on U.S. President Joe Biden to take more aggressive actions against Moscow, although he has dismissed the notion of no-fly zones because of the risk of open conflict between NATO and Russian forces.

I thought I would never live to see the day when a majority of Americans would be this eager for war against a nuclear state that has already said in no uncertain terms that such a US intervention will mean war on a scale never before seen in human history.

The Russian Air Force has not been very apparent. It has been thought that they were saving it like they have been saving their the better infantry for later. Maybe they are just scared of losing it. Go enough manpads and you have a de facto no fly zone.
Russia is using Belarus, so why can't Ukraine use Poland?
A change in two weeks? Not shocking perhaps. Two weeks ago Russia looked like a juggernaut so people do not want to get its ire. People ignore war. It is foreign and bad, so they shy away from it (You might not be interested in war, but war is interested you.). Now however it has replaced COVID as the topic de jure, and so people are better acquainted with it. There is propaganda. The War is useful for the DC elite. They can blame poor economic performance as the effects of the war on global economics.

My spouse grew up in communist Asia. They did not know where Ukraine was. Why should they until now? They are quite educated. They have two masters degrees. Once apprised of what Putin was doing they had very definite convictions to what must be done.
Whatever percentage of people knew where Ukraine was a month ago. more and ore p0eple know where it is now. So the argument people do not know where country X is, is a red herring.

I saw this with the term "socially distancing". In the first 2 weeks of the lockdown reporters or radio announcers did not know what to say. then they glommed onto the term and concept of socially distancing. It was weird and terrible to behold. It was like a flashback in high school. Everyone wen the the 'fad'.
Not a lot of thought was put into it questioning the physics or biology. They just all circled the wagons around the phrase social distancing.

I'm sure most of those people don't actually know what a "No Fly Zone" actually means. If the same pollster asked that question, but then also asked "Do you support American aircraft shooting down Russian aircraft over Ukraine and the US becoming a belligerent?" a lot of people who said "yes" to the former would say "no" to the latter despite them being the same thing.
Supply equipment, and allow volunteers to join. No NATO member should cross the line into becoming an actual belligerent.

I disagree Chris. At some point the losses of Russian equipment will be severe enough that a Stryker brigade along with local forces will be enough to defend against Russia. At that point Russia can stop aggressing or threaten nukes.
