Russian Foreign Ministry Issues A Warning That Arming Ukraine Will Cause A 'Global Collapse'

Mirror: Russia says West arming Ukraine will cause 'global collapse' in chilling warning

Earlier today Vladimir Putin demanded Ukraine must distance itself from NATO, lay down its arms and recognise Russia's claims to Crimea, and to acknowledge that Donetsk and Lugansk are independent states before war can end.

Sending foreign weapons to Ukraine will lead to a "global collapse", Russia's foreign ministry has warned.

Sergey Lavrov, Russia's Foreign Minister, said western powers sending mercenaries and military equipment to the front lines would be a "catastrophic development".

Yesterday, Deputy PM Dominic Raab called on world leaders to support Ukraine with "everything from military hardware through to cyber resilience" to prevent a "creeping normalisation" of what Russia is doing in Ukraine.

He urged his international counterparts to supply the under-siege nation to prevent "more aggression in the future".

A E Housman, answering the German propaganda of World War I that declared the "Old Contemptibles" of the British Expeditionary Force as mercenaries:

Epitaph on an Army of Mercenaries

These, in the days when heaven was falling,
The hour when earth’s foundations fled,
Followed their mercenary calling
And took their wages and are dead.

Their shoulders held the sky suspended;
They stood, and earth’s foundations stay;
What God abandoned, these defended,
And saved the sum of things for pay.
(1917) --A. E. Housman

Russia ⊂ GLobe

If globe, collapses; Russia collapses.

Getting quite tired of lavrov face, which is amazing considering how much I loathe biden's White House and political party.

liar joe has gained 4 points in the RCP since this started. Various people think that joe et al will blame inflation away on the war.

Xi is not Putin's friend. In frank but vulgar terminology, Xi let Putin stick his dick out there first to see what would happen. Worst case scenario for Xi is Putin gets trounced made a pariah and becomes Xi's lifelong friend and China has guaranteed oil supply.

"Sloe Joe's" chart

FEB 15th -11.1
FEB 20th -11.3
MAR _7th -10.1

Sloe Joe would have been north of -14.8 based on COVID and 'transitory' inflation, but Putin saved Joe's ass.

Mother, 32, who became face of Chicago Teachers Union's push to keep schools closed after they claimed she died of COVID from student actually DRANK herself to death, medical examiner reveals

Liberal institutions like Teachers Union the Democrat Party and others have done nothing but lie about COVID. People are upset about it. the War gives Democrats and escape hatch.

Kamala is slammed for telling Americans to buy electric cars as gas prices hit $4-a-gallon: VP says it's time to make 'transition' to green energy - as Psaki blames Putin's invasion for high prices

Gas prices were high in December 2021 and January 2022 and it was the driving season from Memorial Day to Labor Day. So it had nothing to do with driving season and everything to do with shutting down oil transportation and discovery. Also, it had to do with profligate spending.

A person once told me that people operate according to their training and experience. We were talking of Putin. Putin was trained as a spy. Spies often blackmail people to turn them. The Biden crime family has committed so many crimes, when does Putin turn the screws? Or having turned the screws and Sloe Joe is not allowed to buckle due to his handlers that Putin 's blackmail is called and he can go home or lay down his cards and expose the fiscal and political shenanigans.

You see his spouse uses the computer as a baby sitter for 8:59.

8:59 is like a latchkey kid but older and has a computer instead of a boob tube (?).

Computer instead of a TV, 8:59 is still a boob def. #1).

The booby has awoken and came here to name call. Its next trick is to complain about name calling. The missus went to work and sat the booby in front of a computer so booby could be babysat.

tossing out a name is hardly proof
if Hunter did illegal stuff then I am for indictment. But you toss out a name and that is your proof?

and don 't forget that Trump won the election. That is why he can not run for another term after this one.

That Russia has abandoned its original war aims and is going for its minimal (?) demands is very good proof that Russia has realized their invasion has been a mistake. Russia is likely in a very similar situation as Japan was in 1937/1938 when it invaded China. They did not expect the resistance they encountered. They thought it would be similar to early invasions where Japan seized territory after a brief struggle, and China de facto accepted it (Manchuria in 1931, Jehol in 1933, Suiyan in 1936). They had no intention of fighting such a large scale war for such a long time. But that's what they created. They kept offering peace terms to China that China would not accept, so the war continued because Japan wouldn't accept the minimal demands acceptable to China.

Now Russia seems to be in the exact same situation. Now that the fighting has started, Russia essentially wants the previous status (acceptance of Russian occupation of Crimea and stalemate in the Donbas, and non-NATO membership) - but formally acknowledged instead of de facto. But Ukraine has no incentive to accept. It has no reason to accept a deal that leaves it weakened, but allows Russia to again build up its own forces to launch a third war with Ukraine later. Better to bleed the Russians while the West provides its resources until it can secure a deal that can guarantee its sovereignty and prevent a third invasion.

Russia is no longer in a position to have a short, victorious war. It has a real war against a determined foe. It's a war that Russia might still win in some fashion.

But the smarter play would be for Russia to accept a lesser deal that would be acceptable to Ukraine, but achieve some success. Mark Galleoti (In Moscow Shadows Podcast on Buzzsprout) laid out a version of what he thinks might work on February 20. Get acknowledgment of Crimea, but give up Russian claims in the Donbas. Realize Russia has driven Ukraine away from them and accept that NATO membership may happen, but insist on a treaty with NATO that restricts what forces and assets might be stationed on Ukrainian soil. Russia accepts reality, but gets some wins. It'd be a deal many NATO members would accept and put pressure on Zelensky. But do I think Russia will do that? Absolutely not. Like the Japanese in China in 1937, I think Russia will choose to continue the war to obtain a better agreement, and they will keep escalating in the hopes of "winning".

But it is still too early to say Russia cannot win. Their original plan has clearly failed, and even WNU Editor's earlier idea that this would all be over in several weeks has also been wrong. But a new Russian breakout might occur and collapse the Ukrainian front. Or the Ukrainians might mobilize their own forces quicker and deal Russia a major setback and establish a long term stalemate or even pushback. The next two weeks will likely establish a long term status for the war.

I like Galleoti's proposal except for the Donbas Region. I think there should be a plebiscite. The militias have to stand down and turn in weapons. The plebiscite would be 5 to 10 years from now after Ukraine has had time to rebuild and provide services.

I think those were disingenous on Russia's part to a large extent. Still, I think Ukraine's borders were based on artificial boundaries. If Russia had not been in such dire straights they might have insisted on plebiscites, if they had not been so weak in the 1990s.

Plebiscites have at times have been used as weapons in the last century in Europe. Still I think that is the best ways to go. Adding Ukraine and Russia into the EU could make the language and culture arguments moot.

Adding Russia to the EU is not likely to happen in the short term. But with Putin out of power and ten years, who knows? Putin should be retired to Polynesia. It is better than a nuclear war. Also why not have Russia in the EU. Those types are all for one world government This would move the project along the way, my caveat is one world government could be an okay thing but it would depend under what rules it was formed or had.

A small nitpick.
"Their original plan has clearly failed, and even WNU Editor's earlier idea that this would all be over in several weeks has also been wrong."

So me several means seven giver or take -/+2 or -/+3. Definitely less than a dozen and more than few. A few could mean from two to five.

So WNU would not be wrong until week 5 is complete or may up until week 8 or 9 is completed.

I believe the Russians probably thought it would take 2 or 3 weeks. The Ukrainians could face a terrible problems if the Russian force link up along the Dnieper River. That is just obvious and you were alluding to it or some other things. Last I heard the Russian still had 10% of their forces left on the border uncommitted.

In the Kyev area I think burnt out takes make good roadblocks. That has to slow things. Sure engineers could clear them, Tank may push them aside or go around, but that would be a gut check. The infantry almost has to go in first and clear things out to give engineers space to clear.
