Bodies are piling up on the streets of Mariupol where starving Ukrainians have resorted to fighting each other for food in the desperate conditions in the besieged port city.
Residents have been sheltering for days without food, water and power in below freezing weather amid constant bombardment from Putin's forces, which saw a maternity hospital shelled yesterday, killing three people including a six-year-old girl.
This is despite Russia's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov claiming that all women and nurses were evacuated from the hospital and it was deliberately targeted because it had been taken over by Ukrainian radicals, dismissing the Western reaction as a 'pathetic outcry'.

Horrible is not a very accurate word.
So we now understand that the US government has been funding (managing/owning) off book biological labs in Ukraine. Labs that have been there for years. Labs that have been researching horrific germs that they now fear might fall into the hands of the Russian invaders. Because they were not evacuated or destroyed when the Russians were massing on the eastern, northern and southern borders.
The labs exist and the labs are US governed. That is a fact.
And now we have a situation wherein we can believe NOTHING that is stated by Ukraine, Russian or US governments.

Who would have a problem with a biological defense program?
At the best the US government was conducting research for the defense program in Ukraine that was considered too risky or illegal in the US. We have seen how Fauci, a mandarin, conducted research in China that was considered too risky to conduct in the US and may have gone against President Obama's wishes. Think about that Fauci, a mandarin, going against Congress and the president.
At worst it was a research for an offensive program to get around the law. There has been a lot of going around the law such as the CIA spying on Trump by using the British and Australian governments. There is illegal data gathering time and time again.
For all the illegal data gathering the average US citizen is not safer with a wide open southern border. All the illegal data gathering won't stop an attack inside the US, if certain people use hawala and couriers. So what do we get for unpunished Mandarins?
I have no problem with a defensive program except for two points. One the US G in all its wisdom left elements of this program gift wrapped on Russia's doorstep. Two, it is a real bitch to set up research facilities of the type you will not risk in your own country. That does not play well with the world at large regardless, if there is a Russia or a China in existence.
Maybe this explains something. Other than many agencies in the USG being decidedly pro Democrat Party, the reluctance to investigate the Biden's has not as much to do with protecting a few individuals like Biden as that if the string is pulled things like this program come out. US policy here is based on a myriad of assumptions that should they prove false this whole thing ends in unmitigated disaster. Not only can we not trust our government but given prior errors they've made trusting their judgment is going to be problematic as well.
As for Ukraine, it was a corrupt badket case before the war. While it didn't deserve west's happened to it, trying to rehabilitate it into something it wasn't as the current messaging is trying to do would be comical if it weren't so serious. Of course nothing they say should be trusted.
Much of the assumptions our policies seem to be based on appear to be supported by former Russian officials. Russia is an adversary. There's a real possibility we're being fed misinformation and without competent intelligence personnel to evaluate it this could be a major issue.
