Gen. Mark Milley told Congress on Tuesday that he believed the Russia-Ukraine war would be a "very protracted" conflict.
While testifying about the White House's 2023 budget request, Milley told the House Armed Services Committee that the fighting in Ukraine was likely to go on for "years." "It's a bit early, still, even though we're a month plus into the war.
There is much of the ground war left in Ukraine, but I do think this is a very protracted conflict. And I think it's at least measured in years," said Milley, who is chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
"I don't know about a decade, but at least years for sure," he added.

What Is MAPE MAD And MSE In Forecasting?
Good they made a forecast. They made it with a C.I. or window, so wide that it is meaningless.
What does weeks mean? A few weeks? Several weeks?
To channel my inner Kamala weeks is plural. I can mean 2 or more weeks. At 20 miles a day, Ukrainian soldiers could march to Donbas from Kyiv

Military leaders cannot tell us too much or they might tip their hand to the Russians as how they are getting the information, but a lot of the methods and capabilities are known like satellites.
Still what are these guys doing? Weeks could be anywhere from 2 to 11 weeks (or 2 to 7). If it is 8 to 12 weeks, they might as well say months.
You can speak and be so imprecise with language and maybe that is the point.

You are better off going to a sports bar and getting sober or semi-sober people make an assessment. At least they would have better tracked record in predicting wins and losses and could give you decent hedges with and over/under.
