19FortyFive: Battle of Donbas: A Massive Tank War Could Decide Ukraine’s Fate
Russia and Ukraine appear to be in the final stages of preparation to fight the Battle of Donbas, in what is shaping up to be the biggest tank battle in Europe since the decisive Battle of Kursk in World War II.
The stakes for both Moscow and Kyiv couldn’t be higher.
The course of the entire war could hinge on the outcome in the Donbas. On February 24, Russian forces invaded Ukraine on four major axes of advance, near Kyiv, Kharkiv, the Donbas, and up through the Crimea.
In spreading their limited numbers of troops, Russia’s military leadership violated one of the oldest principles of war: mass. Instead of designating a primary objective and allocating the bulk of their combat power to seizing that objective, they dispersed their forces so widely that Ukraine’s defenders were able to repulse all four axes.

I have my doubts on Russia's ability to defeat Ukraine in Donbas. After all, Russia was forced to withdraw from Kiev for a reason--the reason being Russia's army inability to take the city. Russia has likely bitten off more than it can chew in Ukraine.
They never committed a large enough force to take and hold the territory: Now that they have a competent commander, i believe the Russians will devastate the Ukrainian forces
Um JK, No, No, they are not suddenly going to grow competence.
The Ukrainian Dombas side is much more defended than Kiev. I don't know if the Russian army will be better than previously but it will be a lot of Russian blood. And, how the Russian army is able to upgrade its logistic "all the sudden"?
These comments are so far from reality lmao. The entirety of the Ukrainian army is about to be destroyed and the media is finally telling you as much, and you're still living in last months propaganda.
It's funny how some of these clowns think that Ukraine is actually winning. But then again, most of these clowns fell victim for simulation video game clips.
Ah Antitroll, my Uber driving online gaming recently become world renowned military theoretician. Not worthy of becoming so much as a lance corporal. Couldn't hack 6th form could you!
Day 47 and the Ukrainians are still in the fight. Germany conquered Poland in 36 days. The Russian are still trying to take Ukraine.
It is a stupid fucking war with too many people dying. Hint any above zero.
It's not WW2. The objective wasn't to roll through to Lviv. This week you will actually see some of the WW2 style destruction in the cauldron however.
Day 47 against a fully stacker army, with full support of Nato.
Where as Nato had a rough time against Iraq, a 3rd tier army who fought alone.
USA did shock and awe and killed nearly a million.
I rather support Russia over usa and let them win gradually
But I don't expect much braincells from a biased Yankee who's blind to his own nations crimes
So where did your braincells get the idea that Ukraine has NATOs full support? Do you see any NATO troops fighting Russia? Do you see the Russian air force getting obliterated by NATO?
Nobody knows what's going to happen when Russia once again in Donbas. But for sure there is going to be misery and death for both sides, that's the only thing we know for certain.
