Reuters: U.S. Says China Could Face Sanctions if It Supports Russia's War in Ukraine

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Sanctions imposed on Russia over its war in Ukraine should give China a "good understanding" of the consequences it could face if it provides material support to Moscow, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman said on Wednesday.

Sherman said the "range of sanctions" and export controls coordinated among U.S. allies and partners against Russian President Vladimir Putin, the country's economy, and oligarchs, should serve as an example for China's leader Xi Jinping.

"It gives President Xi, I think, a pretty good understanding of what might come his way should he, in fact, support Putin in any material fashion," Sherman told a House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee hearing.

From its pattern so far, the Biden admin will studiously ignore any Chinese sanctions violations re: Russia. "So as not to provoke China [sic]". And from the results of the Biden sanctions on Russia, the financial pain inflicted on Americans will far exceed any discomfort felt by the already oppressed Chinese.

If China invades Taiwan, its anyone's guess what the Biden org will do. Dithering seems to be the preferred option.

The threats up front and way before a possible invasion is laudable. I appreciate this from the State Department.

But like Russ says let us see, if the B9iden(Obama) administration sticks to it.

The rush to get out of dollar reserves over the next couple years are going to bring us to our knees.

Now they want to sanction China? When Trump wanted to get tough on them the Democrats called him a Fascist. The US industrial base has been moved to China, it's kind of too late to be trying to reign in China now is it!

Russ
all you do is fucking badmouth the Dems and Biden.

what do you think Trump would do about Russia and Ukraine? or China? his friggin Maga hats still made in china.grow up and look at both sides. there is blame enough to go around but you close your eyes and see only one "truth." and that "truth" failed so the public voted Trump out and yes the election is real as even Trump at long last admitted.

I do not need to ever to buy a MAGAS hat to vote for Trump or attend a rally.

Democrats have campaign paraphernalia too. Where do they get theirs. China or their nether regions?
