Reports: Retired Canadian Lieutenant-General Captured By Russian Forces At Azovstal Plant In Mariupol

Now retired lieutenant-general Trevor Cadieu was set to be sworn in as the head of the army at a ceremony last fall, but that was pushed off as the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service looked into allegations against him. (Phil LaPlante/CBC)  

APA: Russia captures Commander of Canadian Army at Azovstal 

General Trevor Cadieu (Trevor John Cadieu), captured by Russian troops while trying to escape from the cellars of Azovstal, was the commander of the Canadian Ground Forces, APA reports citing Mailbd. 

Seated in the catacombs under the Mariupol steel plant “Azovstal” nationalists staged a provocation, trying to hide the Canadian general’s attempt to escape. 

After the capture of a high-ranking foreign soldier by units of the RF Armed Forces, it became clear why so many efforts were made to save him.

WNU Editor: According to Global News in Canada, the retired General is under investigation for inappropriate behavior, and in April left to Ukraine to defend the country .... Senior soldier once tasked with army command retired while facing sexual misconduct probe (Global News). There has been no confirmation of his arrest by Canada, Ukraine, or Russian authorities.

Update: Russian media is confirming that retired Canadian Lieutenant-General Trevor Cadieu was captured, and is now in Moscow.
