After Being Threatened By Congress, Pentagon Pledges To Make A Decision On The Development Of Anti-Cruise Missile Systems

Politico: After lawmaker threat, Pentagon pledges to make cruise missile decision in July  

Proposed legislation would cut the deputy defense secretary's travel budget over the matter. 

The Pentagon says that by the end of July it will designate an agency to oversee the development of defenses against cruise missiles, after a House oversight panel threatened to cut the travel budget of the Pentagon’s No. 2 official over the issue.

“Cruise missile defense is critically important to our national security,” spokesperson Eric Pahon told POLITICO in a statement. 

“The Department is committed to designating the lead acquisition authority for cruise missile defense of the homeland by July 31, 2022.”
