Defense officials from China and the US are again exchanging heated rhetoric over Taiwan. However, security experts say the status quo remains.
On Monday, US national security adviser Jake Sullivan and top Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi met in Luxembourg for unannounced talks on "a number of regional and global security issues," with Taiwan high on the list.
According to a White House official, Sullivan reiterated Washington's concerns about China's "coercive and aggressive actions," in the Taiwan Strait.
These include regular military aircraft sorties into Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).
