NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg on Monday said the military alliance is poised to increase the number of its high-readiness forces to well over 300,000 as part of what he described as “the biggest overhaul of collective defense and deterrence since the Cold War.”

WNU editor: There are currently 40,000 troops on alert. Raising it to 300,000 will be a 7x plus increase. To say that I am skeptical that this will happen is an understatement. Most NATO members have a problem meeting their 2% GDP requirements in their defense budgets. This type of commitment will mean a massive increase in each country's defense budgets that will be significantly over the 2% threshold.
