DW: Ethiopia: Fighting breaks out in Tigray as government, rebels blame each other
The government in Addis Ababa has said Tigrayan rebels launched an offensive after Tigrayan rebels said the opposite. One thing is clear, though: a months-old cease fire has ruptured, and fighting has resumed.
Rebels in the Tigray region of Ethiopia accused the central government in Addis Ababa and militias aligned with them of launching what it termed a "large-scale offensive" Wednesday before the Ethiopian government turned around and accused Tigray of the very thing it had been accused of.
The government in Addis Ababa did not immediately respond to the claims by the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) but later said Tigrayan rebels had initiated an offensive.
