WNU Editor: For China and in particular Xi watchers this is a must read. I was in Fujian during the time when Xi was a party chief in one of this provinces regions, and during that time the talk in the universities was on the need to replicate the anti-communist movements in eastern Europe. Leading this discussion were those in the arts/culture/music/etc. (just like in eastern Europe at the same time). Hollywood is not the only cultural institution in the world that has a profound influence on it social and political culture. This is actually the case for must countries, and Xi obviously learned that lesson at a very young age when he saw what what was happening around him during that time. On a side note. Chinese President Xi's wife is a singer and musician. On the dusty shelves of a Fujian library this summer, I came across an essay written by a young Xi Jinping soon after the bloody Tiananmen crackdown in 1989. It was a hint of how the first serious crisis of his career may have informed his worldview. (1/x) pic.twitter.com/9nUKMOKeAz
