Newsweek: U.S. NASAMS Having 100% Success Rate in Stopping Russian Missiles: Pentagon

Air defense systems provided by the U.S. have had a perfect strike rate in intercepting Russian missiles fired into Ukraine, the U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has said.

As Moscow continues to fire rockets at Ukrainian civilian and energy infrastructure, Austin praised the efficacy of the NASAMS (National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System) that the U.S. has supplied as part of its military support for Kyiv.

Austin told a briefing on Wednesday that the systems sent to Ukraine "are now operational, and their performance so far has been very impressive.

" "The NASAMS systems had a 100 percent success rate in intercepting Russian missiles as the Kremlin continues its ruthless bombardment of Ukraine," he said.

maybe the Russkies are sandbagging vis a vis the nasams, in order to have a better chance of success when/if it becomes time to "decapitate" the Ukrainian leadership structure

Possible, OR the system could be very accurate indeed

But........

I would advise caution. These are the same guys who said the SGT York AA system was extremely accurate, reliable and cost effective. ha ha ha ha

Patriots can be taken out by drones. So they will have to be set back and guard bigger cites. On the flip side as drone magnets, Ukraine can sponge up Russian drones, so they do way less damage.

The CI(fucking)A already abandoned the Ukrainians once in the last 100 years. They also abandoned the Tibetans. You know Richard Gere and the other celebs never took the CIA to task for abandoning the Tibetans. They would not, because that would be the pot calling the kettle black. The celebs did nothing more than virtue signal

SGT York AA system was ...

There were 3 components of the SGT York system. The components worked well in their original systems.

However integration into the new SGT York system was a disaster. They teach about the SGT York disaster and its causes in class.

Maybe Mary Jane had something to say or maybe she was just farting.

There is a lot of speculation that the S-300's didn't miss, that they were fired intentionally to trigger some kind of escalation. That doesn't make sense to me, seeing as the missile fragments were inevitably going to be found and, in this case, identified as coming from the 540th AA Regiment's stockpile in Kamianka-Bugskaya.

Maybe the S-300's were fired to spur donations of more modern systems however. The S-300 systems have been doing alright but they're two generations behind the latest Russian and Israeli systems, and not great for intercepting smaller delivery vehicles like the Ukrainians are now dealing with. Up till now the response from the west has been a resounding no for supplying such systems. Maybe that will change now.

"If you don't want this to happen again we need Iron Dome/Patriots/etc.."

Russia fired 100 missiles. NASAMS intercepted 115. Substations in most regions were damaged by the first winter snowfall. Power will return shortly

Omg....lol

100 becomes 115 all the time in America. Heard of another election case. It is why a tell WNU that the Kremlin is dealing with crazy people.

Maybe DC is dealing with crazy people in the Kremlin

Crazy squared. What could go wrong?

Since I'm practically a rank isolationist I can certainly guffaw but the 100% figure on the nasams give me pause.

idk what the situation is with that figure

System came out during 1st gulf war 30 years ago. Maybe they perfected it by now? But 100%. success rate?? I have my doubts

Are they lying. Not really.

Here is how it is done:

You take one isolated incident. Russians fire 10 missiles..... you track and shoot down all 10.

You know this rarely happens , but tonight it did.

Higher HQ takes this info and says.. " Yes we were 100% effective. "

They fail to mention that this was an isolated incident.

See? Are they lying? No. Are they telling the whole truth? Of course not.

But are they reinforcing the narrative that they are great....

yes..... and that is ALL that matters.
