France 24: Macron confirms end of anti-jihadist West Africa military operation
French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday announced that France was ending its Barkhane anti-jihadist mission in Africa after over a decade, saying a new strategy would be worked out with African partners.
"I have decided, in coordination with our partners, to make official today the end of the Barkhane operation," Macron said in a keynote speech on military policy.

That is what I want. Someone who studied music telling the rest of us how to fight jihad. He has useless fracking degrees for responsible for state safety and for economics.
There was an economics course or two thrown into public affairs I am sure. Spoon fed and not rigorous.

0900 like other people knows that engineers have 1 or 2 courses in economics/accounting, yet people never clamour for an engineering graduate to run a country. Public Affairs probably has as many contact hours or courses in economics/accounting as an engineering curriculum, but Macron and others think it is enough.
I think it is very touching and SHALOW as the to the reason Macron proffered for becoming a socialist. What a twerp.

Coincidence? France cannot juggle 2 balls at the same time?
during WW2 there were multiple fronts across the world. There were at least 4 in the pacific (Burma, New Guinea, the island hopping campaign, & China).You could throw in the Aleutians as a temporary one or as a sideshow. Europe had 3 fronts (Russia France and Italy. The Balkans was spec ops side show.
That is 7 fronts or theatres. Nowadays those that drool in Washington cannot even say "Theater". Sadly the drooling reference is no longer a ribald jibe, but the truth. Ask Fetterman and Joe. The point is there in WW2 they talked about theaters of combat and there were several. Now DC tells us that sustaining combat in two theaters of combat or wars is iffy.
If China and Russia are not with us for obvious reason subtract 2 from 7. That still leave 5 theaters. Add to that the fact that we are 'richer' and 'more advanced' than WW2. Supposedly. I say supposedly because we cannot sustain combat in two wars or theaters at the same time. Something is obviously wrong.
You can argue that Burma was a minor theater. True. But it kept up pressure (hydraulic pressure) the whole time there were offensive operations like the Chindits, Merrill's Marauders and the capture of airfields and cities in northern Burma to reopen the road to China. That was before all that hydraulic pressure caused the dam to burst near the end of the war and that minor theater resulted in the capture of all of Burma form the Japanese and operating in Vietnam.
But now France cannot be in West Africa, where it has numerous cultural interests. Numerous. Macron did not say he was transforming the mission. He is walking away. I guess the testosterone boost from being winched from a helo to a sub for foto shoot is only temporary.
Has anyone seen macron walk and chew gum at the same time? Maybe Fetterman, Biden and Macron should start s support group?
