Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley speaks during a briefing at the Pentagon, near Washington, Nov. 16, 2022.

The Hill: Milley tried to speak with Russian counterpart on Tuesday but was ‘unsuccessful’

Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley attempted to speak with his Russian counterpart on Tuesday following a missile-caused explosion in Poland but was unable to get through, the top military official revealed Wednesday.

Milley said his staff tried to connect him with Russian Gen. Valery Gerasimov but they were “unsuccessful in getting me linked up.”

He instead spoke several times with his Ukrainian counterpart, with his Polish counterpart and with other chiefs of defense in Europe, Milley told reporters at the Pentagon.

U.S. officials are still waiting on more information as to the exact origin of a Soviet-era missile that struck within Poland’s borders on Tuesday, killing two.

Update: Russia didn’t take US phone call after Poland missile strike (AP)

WNU Editor: The U.S. is waging war against Russia via proxies, and in that environment Russian Gen. Valery Gerasimov is going to keep contact with his U.S. counterpart at a bare minimum.

The USSR has never ever waged war against the US via proxies.

No USSR >>> No Cuba

No Cuba >> No Nicaragua, No Grenada, No Angola, No Venezuela ...

Russians...the gift that keeps on giving. Kind of like gonorrhea

Why would you want to talk to Milley? Is he going to be helpful in anyway? Probably not.

This is war.

You bomb you enemy with missiles and aircraft....yes

Your enemy responds and defends himself with anti aircraft missiles.....yes

It is a given that "precision" on either side is a word open to interpretation..... Not 100% all the time.......yes

Mistakes are made.....yes

Does either side like the situation and these out comes.....No

So the surprise here is?????

So why talk to milley, let the juniors squabble over this one. Much ado about nothing. A tempest in a tea pot.

Unless you were the two polocks "murdered". (yes that was the word the western press used when they said it was the Russians) by the Ukies.

Anyway, ...the real tragedy is that they are dead. Two farmers just doing a days work.

And for skoda, this is not about who you want to win, simply about the way things go in a war zone.

Never fear. Milley has the same special relationship with the Russians as he does with the Chinese. Extra $ too.
