New York Times Confirms Video Showing 10 Russian POWs were Killed At Close Range

New York Times: Videos Suggest Captive Russian Soldiers Were Killed at Close Range

A series of videos that surfaced on social media last week has ignited a debate over whether Ukrainian forces committed war crimes or acted in self-defense as they tried to capture a group of Russian soldiers who were then killed.

The videos show the grisly before-and-after scenes of the encounter earlier this month, in which at least 11 Russians, most of whom are seen lying on the ground, appear to have been shot dead at close range after one of their fellow fighters suddenly opened fire on Ukrainian soldiers standing nearby.

The videos, whose authenticity has been verified by The New York Times, offer a rare look into one gruesome moment among many in the war, but do not show how or why the Russian soldiers were killed. Ultimately, they leave a mystery that has been used by both sides in the online battle for hearts and minds.

WNU Editor: It was not hard to verify this video. This video has been circulating on Ukrainian news and social media sites to promote and publicize their "heroic" retaking of territory lost to Russia early in the war.

And as to allegations of war crimes. The Ukraine government explanation for this video is that the last prisoner opened fire, resulting in all 11 being killed. The problem with that explanation is that the video is cut-off when the shooting starts, but when it is turned back on, most of the soldiers on the ground clearly appear to be shot in the head.

And this video is not the only one.

I check Ukrainian news and government affiliated social sites everyday. And this video is one of many that Ukrainian news and social media sites are promoting. This morning I saw a photo-gallery of 39 Russian activists severely beaten and tied up by a Ukrainian militia unit in Kherson who they say collaborated with Russian forces. Collaborating with Russia is a treasonable crime in Ukraine right now, and the punishment is death. It is not going to be hard to figure out what is going to happen to these 39 men, and this photo-gallery made it very explicit on what that end will be.

I am personally not surprised that the Ukraine government has green-lighted posting this stuff. It is after-all an effective tool to warn all those on the consequences if they support Russia. And I am not surprised about the lack of Western media coverage of these documented war crimes .... it contradicts their narrative on what is going on.

That is why I am surprised that the New York Times, of all publications, made the decision to report on it now.

So the big question is .... why the US media coverage now? Why is the New York Times putting this story on its front page?

Is this a sign that the US Government now wants to distance itself away from this conflict? To lay the groundwork to make it easier to abandon Ukraine in the future?

I said at the beginning of the war that this war is only going to end when the West makes the decision to force Zelensky to sue for peace, and to accept Moscow's demands.

I know one New York Times report on a war crime in Ukraine is not a trend. But if more reports come out saying the same thing in the coming weeks and months. That is a trend, and a signal that while publicly there are calls to support Ukraine until the end, in private a different direction is being pushed.

The Afghan government learned that bitter truth last year. The Ukraine government may learn that lesson in 2023 or 2024.

Russia invades a nation that is not at war with Russia. And you suggest the invaded nation should or must sue for peace? Did Russia do that when Germany invaded Russia in WWII? why not?

The lesson here is dont shoot at Ukrainian soldiers.

"I said at the beginning of the war that this war is only going to end when the West makes the decision to force Zelensky to sue for peace, and to accept Moscow's demands."

You said a lot of things. You said that Russia would roll-over Ukraine in the first month and you expected this to be a short precise brutal conflict. You were wrong there.

From the start you were against western involvement, not on the basis that it would continue the war, but on the basis that it would give Ukraine a fighting chance. Your sketchy vague but easily readable views that Ukraine should lose its independence against Russia has been well broadcasted on this blog.

I have no idea how your Ukrainian relatives who are supposedly heading over to stay at your chalet will cope with your opinions on the war considering the commentary that you've laid down at the start of this war.

A recent interview with the former commander of the USA branch of Azov's "Misanthropic Division" was published last week, and he makes some very uncomfortable statements in it.

INTERVIEW WITH BONEFACE - US NEO NAZI, EX MEMBER OF AZOV BATTALION

Have you witnessed war crimes committed by any Ukrainian battalions?

Before I was even deployed I remember hearing about a bunch of red anarchists killed in Odessa.

Tornado was by far the most horrifying thing I've ever seen or dealt with in my life. I'm in that botched crucifying video I'm not even wearing a mask.

I remember being asked to photograph Aidar and Tornado members posing with the corpses of a lynched pregnant woman and a man they said was her husband.

The video can be found it's titled "Kikes get the rope" but it literally has nothing to do with Jewish people. I wouldn't have supported an action like that anyway.

---

This is particularly relevant to the 2022 batch of war crime videos, which the nationalists film and publish proudly. Here we have an example of a medieval style crucifixion/witch-burning, where one of the ringleaders himself freely admits that it happened and that he can be clearly identified on the video (due to his full body tattoos).

Yet we have a string of "fact-checking" organizations that have declared it to be fake Russian propaganda. Every wrong can be forgiven, so long as you do Washington's bidding.

Back to a couple more interesting statements from Mclelland:

What do you think of how Western media reports on it?

There is a ton of liberal white washing when it comes to fascists in Ukraine:

"Nazis don't exist' "Azov battalion and Azov regiment are different “ , "They took all the Nazis out of Azov”.

We know all these to be false, and to a guy who knew and been there; I see it as pure disrespect to tarnish the legacy of a lot of those who died.

Clearly they don't know what to think of it. I speak out against the white washing of nationalists by the media. Despite the fact they blasted us for years and even the Ukrainians tried to forcefully uproot Azov at one point.

I use Twitter to mainly troll the (western) left, as they believe Ukraine military isn't full of nationalist ideals.

How many people from foreign countries were there?

Foreign members included a lot from Georgia, Latvia, America, Finland, a lot of skinheads.

In case the world wonders what happened to all the real skinheads. They all went to Ukraine.

Did the U.S. government entice you or help you in any way?

As far as the government goes. During the Maidan coup, I got caught teaching the UKR guys DNS poisoning (placing false information in a DNS resolver cache on internet).

They wanted to sit in and help. They didn't want names or anything, but they wanted to monitor the situation. Without this backing I would've been charged with violation of American neutrality act. Which is a law written in 1784.

If you've ever wondered why the deep state is so paranoid about white nationalists, maybe it's because they've spent so much time in the same room as them.

Preparing the way for Zaluzhnyi's ascension. Like the wermacht, he's "clean" in western eyes.

I assume the NY Ties, usually badmouthed at this site, put that story on the front page because they felt it was important. I also that the paper sides with Ukraine and not with Russia. That is called journalistic integrity.

I assume Phred L believes everything the NYT prints. When the NYT occasionally prints the truth, you have to question the timing. There are lies omission in timing, when to release information. The longer they sit on it or the more the over emphasize one story over another, the bigger the lie.
But Phred is a fun guy. He pisses and moans about Breitbart. When I asked him what story Breitbart published that some MSM otu fit did not print, he would not answer. He moved on.

For context show me an army that does not kill POW's. the US shot German POWs at Utah Beach. Just say a book about it at Barnes and Nobel today. It was also reference in the series "Band of Brothers".

What you need to do is compare Russian execution of POWs and civilians to that of Ukraine.

Which one is greater?
Which one started first?

The French shot collaborators in WW2 during 1944. No one makes a fuss.

Many of the people that Russia exfiltrates form Ukraine end up murdered or orphaned. Yet WNU lectures us.

Some points:

A..The last Russian to emerge fired so the other prisoners were caught up in the cross fire..

B. To prevent A. happening again, they put a bullet in each Russian's head.

C. There should be an investigation to gather and release more facts. The other prisinors who died might have helped the shooter.

D. This was common treatment of Japanese prisoners in WW2 once they became unpredictable.

WNU never covered what 4:10 PM covered.

I told my kids that, if they are on the losing side of battle and they have to surrender, then do two things.

1) Try to wait a while and let their blood cooled done. Granted it is easier said than done. I don't care what country the victors are from. A lot of things go out the window when there have been horrendous casualties on both sides and blood is up. Of course the caveat is that if you wait too long they get pissed off all over again.

2) Surrender in a large group.

I guess there needs to be a #3.

3) If another soldier is hinky and might start shooting when you come it to surrender, then kill him first and then surrender.

well at least those visitations aren't going to waste. Maybe some day you won't have to pay for a social-worker to be there to chaperone you.
